Chapter 6: Not Your Average Woman

I PUT my hand down and opted to watch some more which forced my men to sit back again. But their expressions told me that they wanted to get in between the woman and Lancelot’s foolish friends. Yet, I stayed still. It was not every day that we would get to watch and enjoy something like this for free. I waved at the waiter and ordered for more drinks. If I see any sign that the woman is at a disadvantage, I would not have to send signals anymore. I would take action myself. But right now, she did not look like she needed help. If she succeeds in knocking down the bunch of retards who all came from distinguished families, this would go down the history of Morven. It would force the chauvinistic pigs to finally acknowledge the bravery and strength of women. A long time ago, there were several women who wanted to join the army but the pride of the Ministers which was as enormous as the mountains would not allow the women’s wish to come true. Those women were not able to prove themselves because the men did not let them do so. Today was different. This tavern was jam-packed with male nobles to serve as witnesses. Only a few women were here today. When no other men stood up for the waitress, this woman did. And she did it alone which means that she had more guts than the good for nothing nobles like Lancelot who was only brave when he was with his friends and bodyguards. The woman smiled and I swear, I could hear her fan boys near me sighing like crazy. “You would give me everything, young master? Are you sure about that?” My shoulders tensed up. What was the woman trying to say? After all that show, does she actually plan to give in now? Lancelot’s eyes shone and his smile grew wider as if he won the lottery. “Yes, everything. Just like I said, I am Count Theo Bradford’s second son. There is nothing in Morven that I could not afford.” The woman scoffed. And man, she looked so adorable. “With all due respect, where would you get the money you are willing to give me, young master? From your parents? You look like you haven’t worked your whole life and yet you bully people who are trying their best to earn for their living. Don’t you feel ashamed? I bet that the money you used for ordering drinks came straight from your father’s pocket. Oh, wait. Was it from your mother’s? Is your body that weak that you can’t even do some dignified eight-hour work?” “You-“ “Just brag again when you are the one spending for yourself and not like this.” The woman said, blatantly cutting Lancelot’s words. “Right now, it seems like you are still living under your father’s shadow, using his name and title as an excuse to do whatever you please. It makes me think that you are nothing without your surname. Besides, no matter how wealthy your parents are, you still can’t put a price tag on me, young master. I belong only to myself.” That hit the spot. I take back what I said about the woman being angelic. She was as savage as hell. I did feel like strangling Lancelot a few seconds ago. But after what the woman just said in front of many people who are now trying to hide their laughter, I wanted to offer my sincere condolences to Lancelot’s pride. It had been smashed by this woman into hundred pieces. I would have clapped but people might notice who I am and it might ruin the mood. How does it feel to be the one to be trampled upon this time, Lancelot? Now you know what women feel whenever you harass them. “Aren’t you afraid of getting punished for this? This is my family’s territory.” Lancelot hissed, his cheeks are redder now. But not just out of anger this time. But out of embarrassment, too. When he glared at the customers, they stopped laughing. Poor bastard. “Oh. Is that so? By any chance, did your family build this place, young master? Let me just remind you that the Capital is for all the citizens of Morven. Your family only resides here. They may have owned a few properties here but they do not own the entire Capital. This may be under the jurisdiction of your father, but that is not enough reason for you to use his authority and threaten people like this. You said you are his son, then it is your responsibility to uphold his dignity as part of this Empire’s royalty. But clearly, you are not doing that, young master.” She shrugged. “If I will get punished for something like this, then it would be a shame not just for your family, for the entire Morven, but for the Emperor as well. ’Good thing I was told that His Majesty is a man of justice. If anything, I am certain I would be rewarded for this.” I was amused. The woman spoke as if she knew the Emperor personally. But what she did next surprised me. Using her knife, she cut her dress above her knees, exposing her long, creamy legs. I swallowed hard. It was cold inside the tavern but I felt hot. I suddenly had the strong urge to gouge the eyes of every man who was busy admiring the view right now. And that includes my soldiers who removed the first two buttons of their uniform as if they were suffocating. From where I was sitting, I could see them sweating. Oh, hell. I knew the woman only did it in order to move freely but I… I did not like it. Lancelot and his friends were momentarily distracted, too. They were staring appreciatively at the splendid sight. But if I meddle now, the woman’s efforts in bringing the great prince down would be put to waste. After a minute, Lancelot’s jaw clenched. He looked away as if he was trying his damnest to divert his attention away from the woman. “I gave you a chance, lady. Don’t blame me for this!” When the drunkard nodded, his friends who were even more motivated now, all thanks to the woman’s killer legs, began attacking her like beasts who saw their prey in her.
