Chapter5

1046 Words
Lesley is abruptly roused from her sleep by the sound of someone bellowing her name. Groggily, she stumbles out of bed and sees him standing there, his expression one of annoyance. It appears she'll be encountering him more frequently than she initially thought. "I never got your name," she states, not feeling comfortable referring to him as 'Dad', because he simply isn't. "Dave. Look, I need you to tidy up the other house," he says, extending a set of keys towards her. She laughs, thinking he's joking, only to realize he's dead serious. "Lesley, just do as you're told for once. The kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom all need a good cleaning. I have to leave. Ensure it's done and you're out within an hour." With that, he turns on his heel and departs. Lesley is left with a decision to make: defy him and face the repercussions, or comply and give in? She's just arrived, so she'd prefer to get settled in before any major confrontations arise. She makes her way to the other house and begins the task of cleaning up his mess. It's clear from the state of the place that he had another woman over, which suggests their current living arrangement will likely come to an end soon. She's doing this purely to delay their inevitable relocation. If she could stay in one place for more than a few months, it would allow her to save enough money to remain once he moves on. Once she's finished cleaning, she returns to her side of the house. She undresses, showers, and starts getting ready for work. She plans to meet Eve at the bar before her shift begins. As she drives, she takes in the surrounding neighborhoods, wondering where she might fit in. When she arrives at the bar, she can't help but chuckle. She hadn't anticipated this from Eve; it's a biker's club. Does Eve really work at a biker's club? Exiting her car, she takes a moment to admire the array of motorcycles lined up outside. She'd love to own one, but their nomadic lifestyle makes it impractical. With a car, she can simply throw her belongings in and hit the road. A bike would require figuring out how to transport her possessions. Her mother never allows her to put her things in the moving truck, insisting that her "filth" would ruin her expensive items. Upon entering the bar, she takes a moment to survey the room, then pulls out a stool and settles down on it. She calls out to Eve from across the bar. She watches as Eve rushes over, gives her a quick hug, and hands her a drink. Eve then returns to the man she was talking to. After a brief exchange, the man departs and Eve comes back to Lesley. She leans against the bar, a smile playing on her lips. "You didn't mention it was a biker's club. I could work here instead of dancing, heck, I could even dance here," Lesley laughs, and Eve groans in response. "It's only been twenty-four hours and I already know you're a handful. Plus, I don't think Big Tiger would be too thrilled about you stripping and dancing here," she laughs, and Lesley is about to inquire who Big Tiger is when someone else begins to speak. "I'm not sure, but I'd be willing to shell out a little extra to see her perform here," a man interjects, earning a smile from Lesley in response. "Thank you, see, he's willing to pay extra," Lesley retorts, and both she and the man dissolve into laughter. "That's because Jake would cough up extra to see any woman perform, wouldn't you, Jake?" Eve teases him, and he nods in agreement, joining in the laughter. "Guilty as charged. So, you're a dancer?" Jake shifts his attention to Lesley, who affirms with a nod. "I perform at Angel Paradise. Tonight's my debut." She confesses, a hint of nervousness creeping into her voice, which is uncharacteristic for her. "Well, I might just swing by and cheer you on. What do you think, Eve? Should I round up a few guys to come and show their support?" Jake proposes, laughing, but Eve shakes her head in disagreement. "No, you won't. Or if you're really keen on it, you'll have to get Big Tiger's approval." "Just how big is Big Tiger?" Lesley inquires, her curiosity piqued. They both burst into laughter at her question. "Big Tiger isn't particularly big, nor is he a tiger. He got the nickname after he collided with a massive tiger while on his bike and ended up breaking both his legs," Jake explains, laughing, and Lesley rolls her eyes in amusement. "See, I was envisioning this large, muscular guy, complete with a beard, tattoos, and clad in leather." She scans the room and points to a man. "Like him." "That's Diesel. He's quite the wild card. So, if you want to daydream about him, feel free, but keep it under wraps," Eve advises, laughing. Lesley nods in understanding, and they continue their conversation before she departs for the club. She doesn't cross paths with this 'Big Tiger' character, but some of the guys at the club are friendly and welcoming. She bids Eve farewell and heads to work. Upon her arrival, Alec greets her, and she proceeds to the dressing rooms. Andie and Sash are already there, getting ready and briefing her on the routine for the night. Lesley finds herself unwinding and having fun with them before it's her turn to take the stage. Stepping onto the stage, she commences her dance, gracefully making her way to the small stage and sensually wrapping her body around the pole. She appreciates this setup; all the tables can be replaced with a pole and mini stage. This allows her to dance closer to the customers, rather than being restricted to pole dancing on the main stage. She spins and suspends herself upside down, her hips grinding against the pole. As the first dance draws to a close, she retreats backstage to quickly change while Andie performs her solo. As she's securing her shoes, she hears the song beginning to fade. She rushes out, poised to take the stage as Andie makes her exit.
