AFTER SCHOOL
"So excited about our party tonight?!" Ally exclaimed.
"Yes, of course," I replied, smiling.
"What are you wearing?" she asked.
"Maybe one of my short dresses," I shrugged.
"Cool! What about your brothers? First, Mason wore a cap yesterday, and today it's Matt."
I grinned, "Just a little revenge, that's all."
"Always the prank master. Speaking of pranks, I need you to prank my chemistry teacher for giving us homework," she grumbled.
"Just hand me the chemicals, and I'll take care of the rest," I smirked.
"I can't tell the difference between any chemicals," she sighed. "Why did I even choose that class?"
"Let the genius handle it. I got an A on my science project in eighth grade, you know," I replied with a smirk.
"You're such a nerd, but a hot nerd," she added.
I am smart; my friends and teachers know it. The only ones who don't believe it is jealous girls and Claire, who think I'm just a dumb cheerleader missing blonde hair and a bigger house.
"Good save."
We changed into our cheer uniforms and headed to the field. My brothers and their teammates were playing a match, with one side in jerseys and the other side shirtless.
"Omg, Sammy is shirtless," Ally swooned.
"You see him shirtless all the time, even in your room," I rolled my eyes.
"There's Asher too," she added.
"Where?" I turned to see Asher kicking the ball to Mason, shirtless and showing off his abs, while Claire drooled over him.
"Girls, focus!" I snapped. "We need to get this routine down for Monday."
"Is Mia jealous that girls are checking out Asher?" Claire smirked.
"Shut it, b***h," Gloria snapped.
"Why don’t you shut it, hippo? Fighting with me won't get you a date with Derek," Claire flicked her ginger hair.
"Why you—"
"Girls, time for practice. You can meet your boyfriends later," Coach Smith ordered.
____
"This is perfect," Ally said when she showed me the dress.
"It's great; you have the body for it," she added.
I took it from her and slipped it on over my underwear.
"What are you wearing?"
"This," she replied, showing me her dress.
"It's gorgeous! You'll look smoking hot in that," I gasped.
"I know. Now time for your hair and makeup," she smiled.
We spent the next forty minutes doing our hair and makeup. I looked good, with the mascara and red rose lipstick, but I noticed I looked a lot like my mother.
"Girls, the party doesn't start without the party king, so let's go," Matt announced.
"We're coming," I grabbed my jacket and a small purse with my phone and some money.
"What the hell are you wearing?!" Dad demanded.
"Clothes, Mr. West," Ally answered.
"Are you going to a party or a strip club?"
"Dad, it’s not that short," I rolled my eyes.
"I wouldn't let my seventeen-year-old daughter go—"
"Dad, we got this," Matt said, leaning casually against the wall with his bat, while Mason cracked his knuckles.
"Okay, fine. Be back by 12:30, no later," he waved us out.
"Are you seriously taking that bat?" I grumbled at Matt as we walked to his car.
"Hell no, I’m not babysitting you. Guys know better than to come around you," he tossed the bat into a bush.
"You look hot, baby," Sam kissed Ally once we got inside her house.
"Thanks," she blushed.
Asher walked up to me, glaring at some guys. "What’s wrong?" I asked.
"I don’t like the way they’re looking at you, Mia," he mumbled.
"They can look, but not touch. My brothers will crucify them," I laughed.
"Yeah, but st—"
"Wow, Mia, looking great," Derek said, approaching me with a side hug.
"Thank you, it's all thanks to your sister. Speaking of her, make sure she doesn't drink much tonight," I frowned.
"Sam can look after her. If he doesn't, I'll kill him," he hissed.
"Hey, Derek!" someone called him.
"What's up, man?" he replied and left.
"I'll get you a drink," Asher mumbled, pushing through the crowd.
"Well, well, look who finally showed up," Claire said as I turned around to see her in a sleeveless, mid-length blue dress, shorter than mine.
"Who invited this tramp?" I frowned.
"Tramp? How dare you?" Claire gasps. "You're just a jealous b***h who hasn't even had her first kiss or a boyfriend," she snaps, and the crowd gasps.
"I have my reasons."
"Lame excuse. No wonder your mother left you; you didn't even hook up," she laughs.
Claire gasps, holding her cheek. "Did you just slap me?"
"Yes, I did," I say, crossing my arms and glaring at her.
"You're such a b***h, Mia! I'll ruin you, mark my words!" She threatens, pushing her way through the crowd.
"What did I miss?" Asher asks, appearing with my drink.
"Nothing," I grumble, snatching the can and heading through the crowd to the back.
"Hey, wait! Where are you going?"
I spot Matt talking to Crystal, who laughs at something he says, Mason in a drinking race with another guy, and Alec leaning against a pillar, sipping his beer with a doll hanging from his other hand.
I walk over to him. "Hey, Ace, babysitting, are we?" I smirk.
"Wow, Mia, you look hot," he says, shamelessly checking me out with that smirk that makes girls swoon.
I roll my eyes. "Drop the flirting, Alec. Where's Hannah?"
"Somewhere around," he shrugs.
"Why did you run off like that?" Asher asks.
"Claire was being a jealous b***h, as usual," I reply with a shrug.
**
"SpongeBob, I know you're in there!" I shout, shaking the pineapple I found in the fruit bowl. "SpongeBob!"
"Mia, I think it's time to get you home," Alec laughs.
"No, I want to find SpongeBob. Gary needs him!" I pout, showing him the snail.
"Isn't that Derek's pet snail?" he frowns. "Where did you get that?"
"Upstairs in his room," I shrug, placing the snail on the table and taking another gulp of my beer.
"No more drinks, Mia," Alec says, trying to take the can from me.
"No, my precious!" I hiss, pulling it back.
"Mia," he sighs, taking it anyway.
"What's going on here?" Mason asks.
"Mason, he's being mean!" I rush to him and hug him tightly.
"I'm just trying to keep her from getting more drunk," Alec defends himself.
"Where the hell is Asher?!"
"He disappeared about an hour ago with Sam. Haven't seen him since."
"It's already midnight. You stay with her while I go find Ally, Mason, and Asher," Mason says, sitting me down.

Asher's POV
"So, Asher, what do you like to do in your spare time?" Crystal asks.
"Listen to music, play video games, and hang out with my best friends."
"Who are they?"
"Mia, Mason, and Matt."
"Cool, I like to read and shop."
Boring. People think Mia likes to shop, but I'm the one who drags her along for Ally and Gloria.
"Cool."
"So why don't you have a girlfriend?"
"Because I just don't," I shrug, hiding my feelings for one of my best friends who has no idea.
"Oh, I thought you were dating Mia—"
"We're just friends!" I blurt, startling her. "Sorry."
"It's fine, but her brother Matt is so handsome. Do you think he'll date someone like me?" She asks.
I smirk; someone has a crush.
"Do you like him?"
"W-what? N-no," she stutters, turning red.
"Don't worry, your secret is safe with me," I tease, and she pushes me.
"I thought you liked Mia, dude," Sam whispers. "What's going on?"
"It's nothing, I swear."
"That's what they all say. But then what happens? They get with the girl and hurt others," he sighs.
"It's not like that, I promise," I assure him.
"Guys, let's go; it's already midnight," Mason rushes over.
"But I'm just starting to have fun!" Ally whines. "Don't make him take me, Sammy."
"Sorry, Ally, but Mia will need you when she gets a headache in a couple of hours," Mason explains.
"She's drunk, isn't she?" she sighs, and he nods.
"Then let's go. I'll talk to you soon," she says, kissing Sam.
"I better head home; I need to find my drunk cousin," Crystal rolls her eyes.
"And I have to find my brother," Mason grumbles. "Just great."
___
"Bye, Ashy! I'll miss you. I l—"
"That's enough. Bye, Asher," Ally cuts Mia off.
"Bye, cupcake," I whisper in her ear and kiss her forehead before stepping outside and shutting the door as they drive off.
What a day.
But what was Mia going to say if Ally hadn't stopped her?
Looks like I'll never know.
I sigh and head back inside.
