16. ELEVATOR LOVE!!!

IVY’S POV

“Ivy,” Ace stepped forward to greet me once our eyes locked.

“Hi Ace,” I stretched my hand to greet him.

“I will leave you guys for now.” The chauffeur excused himself.

“Of course,” Ace said.

“I am happy that you come,” He said his eyes staring into me after staring on my body for couple of times.

“Me too,” I said trying to be as casual formal as possible. Is that even word? I tried to be as casual and formal at the same time.

“Right, yeah, let’s go to my place,” He pointed out and I followed him to the elevator.

“You look good,” I swear this was an awkward moment. I didn’t know what to say or to do.

We had only met today and I didn’t know what to say to him. Don’t forget that he is a billionaire.

“Thank you,” I rashly said because I realized that I had taken too long to reply to him.

“I hope I had not interrupted some of your plans. I just wanted to confirm to you that I am not going to sue you or something like that,” He shrugged when we were in the elevator.

“Well, I am glad,” I mumbled and stared right into the front. He was standing right by my side as we waited to get to his room.

We were still in that chilled mood when the lights went off and following that was the elevator becoming unstable. We screamed in horror and the next thing I knew is Ace’s hands wrapping around me as the elevator started going down in a supersonic speed.  It was more like we held each other tightly and we didn’t stop with the screaming. In that desperate moment, a thought struck my head and I ended up pressing the emergency button of the elevator.

The elevator stopped moving and we were quite relieved but before we could stop holding each other, it became unstable in an instant and we crushed on the floor and both of us groaned in pain. The lights come back and caught us holding each other. I had a few seconds to stare at his grey eyes that attracted me to him like a moth to a flame.

He also stared into my eyes but it hit me that we should get up. I excused myself and I got to my feet. He did the same. Well, it was an awkward situation thus there is nothing much that I could possibly do.

“I am sorry about that, this has never happened before,” He apologized to me when the door of the elevator opened after we got to the last floor.

“I understand,” I nodded.

“Please forget that. I am sorry. “He repeated once we were out of the elevator. He noticed that I was mostly silent and I guess that made him think that I am md or something.

“Yea sure,” I chuckled showing as much teeth as possible.

“Cool,” He continued leading the way and thus he swapped his card once we got to his door.

The moment I stepped into the house, I almost died of shock. Literally. The house and everything in it screamed money. Well, that is why he is a billionaire, isn’t it.

“Should I get you anything?” He asked me.

“No, I am okay,” I was so overwhelmed with the house actually.

“There is no way, you can fail to need anything. I will get you something. And please, make yourself comfortable,” He pointed I the fancy coach before he disappeared to the modern kitchen just on the opposite side of the house.

The living room was large. The floors were made of colored tiles arranged in jagged patterns, and the walls were made of glass, revealing additional views of the city and the mountains to the east. A frosted glass portion separated the lobby from the private office. Silk banners hang from the ceiling. Polished stone pedestals held golden and silver statutes portraying nude men and women. Everything in the room was rich and lavish. I have never been to such a place so luxurious.

“You look so startled,” He come back holding a glass of wine.

“I am?” I was?

“Yea, take this, it will make you relax,” He handed me the wine.

“But I don’t drink, now that I have to work, with that I mean I want to check on your son,” I told him boldly and finished off with a smile.

“You have to be kidding me. Have some wine. Enjoy. One glass wont break a bone,” He made me comfortable sitting next to me. Ever since I come here, my tough side suddenly vanished. I started becoming so obsessed with his eyes. I mean, look at them.

“I guess I have no other option but to drink it,” I said taking the first sip of the best wine I have ever tasted.

“I have been meaning to ask you,” He implored and I was all ears.

“First and foremost, I hope you threw the story of the elevator under the bus. I have called the owner of this hotel and if he doesn’t fix the problem so that it will never occur again, I will have to move out immediately to somewhere more convenient. “He started off.

“No problem,” I said in a low voice taking too many sips of wine. I couldn’t just resist the taste. With every sip, I felt more attracted to Ace.

“Okay, I was to ask this, why did you think that I was going to sue you? Do I look so inhumane?” He implored and looked into my eyes for honest answer.

“I found out from a friend that you were a Billionaire and I figured that I didn’t have to scold you.” I told him.

“So, are you telling me that if you knew of my status, you would fear to tell me what is best for my child?” He implored.

Few seconds passed before I could answer him.

“Come on, be honest with me, will my billionaire status make you not tell me what is good for my son now that he was so sick and he needed care?” He asked.

“Well, the truth is, I would have told you the truth. I would have scolded you.” I paused and waited to see his reaction but his face told me nothing. So I went on to explain.

“Life is more important than status and now that I am a doctor, I know that prevention is better than cure. If God forbid I don’t tell you about caring for your son and the worst happens, your billionaire status would not bring him back to life,” I was honest enough. My heart was beating so loudly and I didn’t know how he would take it. Why have I said this, I have had maybe too much of win.

“I thought I would never meet a woman like you but I have. “ That is all he said with a smile etched on his face.

“What does this exactly mean?”
