Chapter 73

Dad introduced me to the board members who were shocked to see me, most of the board members didn't recognize me. I and Aubrey had only visited the company when we were little. “Little Audrey,” an old man that was sitting at the end of the table mumbled, I paused and looked in the direction where he was sitting. I arched my brow while sizing the old man up, I rummaged my head trying to recall who he was. “Grandpa Matthew!” I uttered with amazement, I thought he would have retired, I was stunned to see him still working for the Enterprise. “Yes dear, you have grown to become a strong and beautiful woman” I blushed and looked down at the table. “That’s enough now! You can catch up later” dad muttered sternly with a stoic face. Dad swiping in a serious tone got me rolling my eyes. He swiftly handed over the company to me, and the rest of the board members applauded me as I took the seat of the CEO. Moments after handing over the company to me, the board members start leaving after giving me their congratulatory messages. “My dear, you have to take care of the company. This company was built from scratch by your grandpa and you know what it means to him” I nodded while gazing at him. He caressed my hair and smiled, “don’t hesitate to speak with dad anytime. I’ll let Margaret take you around the office” he asserted and made a hand gesture to Margaret. She bowed curtly as dad walked out of the conference room, “Miss Wellington, I’ll show you around” she asserted as she walked up to me. I sighed and strode up to her. She showed me all the nooks and crannies of Enterprise, it didn’t take time for me to know every part of the company. “Thank you Margaret” we stopped in front of my father's office, which is now mine. “It’s nothing ma’am, it’s my duty to make sure that you’re comfortable” I have no words to refute her so I sent her away. I stepped into my now supposed office glancing around the whole place, however it looked a bit dark just like a male office but I had no problem with the settings. I'll think of it once I resume work. I took one glance at the office and left. “Little Audrey!” Grandpa Matthew asserted as I reached the exit. I embraced him, “I’ve missed you, grandpa, I’ve always asked dad of you” he shook his head without saying a word. We talked for a while before parting ways. “Why is grandpa Matthew acting strange?” I uttered to myself and watched as his driver sped off. I breathed heavily and took a long stride to the parking lot, entered my Ferrari, and headed back home. Reaching the mansion, I met the butler in the garden trimming the flowers. He informed me that mum went out with friends. I moved up the stairs, dressed up, and drove to the bar. Rodney, excited as Ryan had given him a week off from work, boarded a flight to San Francisco with the assistance of his secretary, he booked a suite in one of the top hotels and prepared to have fun at a nightclub. Coincidentally, we were at the same club but at a different session. I ordered a cocktail while sitting in front of the countertop. “Here ma’am” the bartender mumbled with a smile, I took the glass of cocktail and gulped a little. “It’s been long since you visited us” the bartender muttered, he was one of the best souls I have got here in San Francisco. “You know about everything Gary, don’t try to put me in a tight corner” he smirked and turned away. “Omg, isn’t that Audrey?” Rodney tapped the shoulder of his friend, he has been speaking about Ryan and me to his friends who are not demons. “What! That’s Audrey Wellington. The daughter of one of the richest men in the US” Rodney widened his eyes as he took in what his friend had said, he sized me up and still could believe that I’m Audrey Wellington, one of the Wellington's twins. “That’s not true, I believe you’re pulling my legs. This is not time for jokes Gary” he scolded and shot him a glare. “You don’t believe me? Wait a moment” he uttered, took out his cellphone, and surfed the internet. Shortly, the photo of my parents standing with Audrey was shown. “Right, see for yourself!” He shoved the phone into Rodney’s hand and tapped his fit on the ground. “f**k! Gary, you were right. I can’t believe that you literally speak the truth for the first time in your lifetime” Gary rolled his eyes and relaxed on the sofa. “This is unbelievable,” Rodney muttered to himself, still finding it hard to believe that I’m the new CEO of the Wellington Group. “Such assets and she is still struggling to get through the fashion world, with the assistance of her family she can become a famous fashion designer.” He added thinking that everything seems odd. He soon decided to move to my table and strike up a conversation with me, he had always wanted to see how special Audrey Wellington is that his brother is going berserk. “Where are you going?” Gary abruptly asked as Rodney got up from the seat, “what do you think?” Rodney mumbled and glared at Gary with a smirk. He left the private suite and moved towards the bar. “Hello, gorgeous” he asserted with a cute smile. I raised my head gazing at the strange man standing before me. “Hello” I uttered calmly. “Ain’t you bored of sitting alone? I was thinking that I could sit next to you” I shrugged and focused on my cocktail. At first, I thought it was Ryan, the stranger has a striking resemblance with him but looking closely I found out they were not the same. “Miss Audrey of Rey Grandeur, you look more gorgeous in person than in photos” I paused and turned to him. “Oh, I’d heard about your brand which is causing an uproar in the market sector” I rolled my eyes and scoffed. “Is that supposed to be a compliment?” I inquired. “As you wish my lady” I huffed and gulped down the last drop of cocktail on my glass.
