The morning after the rejection, Aurora woke up feeling numb and empty. Her friends Lily and Emily were already there waiting for her, and they spent the day trying to lift her spirits. But despite their efforts, Aurora couldn't shake off the feeling of humiliation and despair.
As the day progressed, the atmosphere in the house grew increasingly tense. Aurora's parents had received countless messages and calls from concerned pack members, all of them asking about the news of the rejection. The news had spread like wildfire, and soon it felt like the whole world knew about her humiliation.
Suddenly, a loud noise erupted from the living room. Aurora and her friends rushed to see what was happening, only to find her parents arguing with each other. Her mother was in tears, while her father was red with anger.
"What are we going to do now? Our reputation is ruined because of her!" her father yelled, pointing a finger at Aurora.
"She had done nothing. Alexander didn't want her and -" her mother tried to defend Aurora, but her dad interrupted and said, "but he rejected her. He is our soon-to-be alpha, and everyone knows how he is. He won't hesitate to banish her from the pack if she ever tried to offend him."
Her dad said, and she felt that she is the reason of their pain and humiliation they are going to face.
Lily and Emily exchanged a worried glance, unsure of what to do or say. Aurora stood there silently, feeling like she was the cause of all the chaos.
Suddenly, Aurora couldn't take it anymore. She ran to her room and locked the door, blocking out the sounds of her parents' arguments. She couldn't bear to be around them, to see the disappointment and shame in their eyes.
As she sat on her bed, she began to think about her life and all the pain and suffering she had endured. She thought about the rejection, the humiliation, and the loss of her dreams. She felt like she had nothing left to live for.
And so, with a heavy heart, she made the decision to end her life. She snuck out of her room through the window with a heavy heart. She didn't know where to go, but she knew that she didn't want to be the reason for anyone's pain anymore. She doesn't want her friends and family to suffer, so she thinks of finding the solution to her problems on her own. She was wandering in the woods, and when nothing came to her mind, she stood and ran towards the only river on Lunar Howl Pack, her feet pounding on the ground as she went. She didn't have her wolf with her, so no one could track her scent.
As she ran, she remembered all the happy moments of her life with her friends and family. She remembered the laughter and joy, the love and support. But all of it felt like a distant memory now, a cruel reminder of what she had lost.
When she finally reached the edge of the river, she stood there for a moment, gazing into the murky waters below. The sound of the rushing water filled her ears, and she felt a sense of calm wash over her. She knew what she had to do.
And with that, she closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and jumped.
--------
On the other hand, Fenrir was in the woods and was looking at the bright moon in the sky. He wanted to think about the danger his pack is facing these days, so he chose a calm and peaceful place.
However, the peace was short-lived. His wolf started getting impatient and howling in his mind for control. He couldn't understand as it never happened. Suddenly he turned into his Lycan form and ran through the woods, his heightened senses picking up the scent of a distress call. He felt a pang of unease in his chest, knowing that someone was in trouble.
As he ran, he started smelling a known scent that was related to Aurora, the beautiful young werewolf he had seen a few days ago. He felt a connection with her, a spark of something that he couldn't quite define at that time.
And then he saw her.
Aurora was standing on the edge of a cliff, looking down at the raging river below. Fenrir's heart skipped a beat when he saw the tears streaming down her face. He felt a strong urge to protect her, to keep her safe from harm.
Without hesitation, Fenrir ran towards her, his powerful lycan form propelling him towards the cliff. He could see the pain in her eyes, the weight of the rejection still heavy on her shoulders. He knew something was wrong with her, but he didn't know why? He was feeling anxious, so he ran his speed but.
But before he could reach her, Aurora jumped.
Fenrir didn't even think twice before jumping into the river. He followed her into the river, the cold water shocking his system. He fought against the current, his powerful wolf body propelling him towards her, towards Aurora.
He didn't take much time to find her. When he reached her, he saw that she was unconscious. He grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and pulled her towards the shore, his heart pounding in his chest. He held her waist possessively, keeping her safe. Her body was not moving, so he knew that he had to make it quick. Soon he was swimming towards the shore.
As he laid her down gently, he inhaled deeply and recognized her delicate jasmine scent. His wolf stirred inside him, recognizing her as their fated mate.
He was feeling intoxicated and infatuated towards her, but Fenrir knew the curse that plagued his family, and he couldn't let himself get close to her. He fought against his wolf's instincts and tried to push his feelings down. He had no right to claim her as his mate, not when he knew what could happen.
Soon Fenrir brought Aurora on the land and made her lay down. He was intoxicated with the beauty lying in front of him. Her pale skin, brown hairs, pink lips, and toned body were attracting him. He was trying hard to control himself.
Lycans are different from wolves. Lycans are considered to be more strong and dominating as compared to wolves and have less self-control. Whereas wolves wait for a ceremony to claim their fated mate, lycans want to claim them as soon as they get to know about their mates. So, it was quite evident that it wouldn't be an easy task for Fenrir to avoid Aurora and her scent.
Although she doesn't have any wolf, still, there is a scent in her which only her mate can smell, and Fenrir is feeling that. He waited for a long time for her to gain consciousness and admiring his destined mate.
He watched over her as she slowly regained consciousness, his heart pounding in his chest. When she finally opened her eyes, Fenrir saw the fear and confusion in them. He knew he had to keep her safe, no matter the cost.
He expected her to recognize him as his mate, but nothing like that happened. As soon as she opened her eyes and found an unfamiliar face in front of her, she got frightened. She tried to push her body back, which took Fenrir off guard. He was shocked.
He knew that they couldn't be together, but it still hurt him that his mate didn't want to be with him. Out of nowhere, he stood and held her hand, making her soft body collide with his stone-like chest.
Aurora looked at Fenrir with fear and asked with her trembling lips, "Who are you?"
Fenrir was busy in diving the beauty of his when her melodious voice brought him out of his thoughts, and out of the blue, he held her waist, making her shiver with fear and nervousness, and murmured in her ears, "What do you think I can be?"
Feeling Fenrir's hands on her waist Aurora became conscious, and the pain that Alexander inflicted upon her came back into her mind, she started struggling and said, "You have no right to touch me."
Hearing Aurora and looking at her struggles, Fenrir chuckled and made her look into his eyes. He was holding her waist with one hand, and his other hand was on her chin. He replied, feeling the pain, "Trust me, no one else can touch you the way I can. And I have all the rights on you."
He instantly heard Aurora asking, "Means," and the next moment, he was at the loss of words. He didn't know what took over him when he said those words.
Out of the blue, Fenrir said something which he never planned to do. Now he was clueless about how to reply to her. He was lost in her thoughts when Aurora realized how close they were. There was not even air that could pass. Anxiously, she tried to get rid of him, which brought Fenrir out of his thoughts, and he realized what his mate was doing.
So, without wasting a single second, he held her in his arms and started walking.
As he walked, Fenrir couldn't help but feel drawn to her, the way she was looking at her, and the sound of her voice.
Those innocent eyes were filled with questions, but there was no fear. Yes, she was anxious to see an unknown face, but she somehow knew that she had already faced the worst and nothing could happen that bad.
Whereas Fenrir knew he couldn't let himself fall for her, not when the curse was always looming over him. He had to keep her safe and then leave her behind.
It took them almost two hours to reach their destination, but Fenrir wanted to make sure that she was in the safest place, so he chose this place for her.
It is a cave hidden in the mountain between his current pack, which he built for himself, and the pack he was a prince once. It was the safest place since Fenrir was here often, and he knew he would be able to check on his mate easily.
Also, his paternal pack won't harm a girl unnecessarily until she tries to harm anyone, which he believes Aurora couldn't do.
He made her sit down on the roof and removed the bushes and stones which was hiding the cave. He went inside and ensured that it was safe. Once he was done, he gathered something to eat for her. While he was busy making the arrangements, Aurora was observing him. She was at ease now.
She was hurt when she left her pack, but now she was feeling nothing.
The feeling that erupted in her body, the butterflies she used to feel for Alexander, was banished. There was nothing in her left. She didn't feel anything around Fenrir, which proves that her feelings are blocked now.
Once Fenrir was done, Aurora looked up at him, confusion and fear etched on her face. Fenrir forwarded his hand to her, and she took it hesitantly. He took her inside the cabin and gave her a silver knife to protect herself.
She was sitting on the land, and he was standing. He was feeling restless, but still, he turned to leave, and suddenly he felt a sharp erratic shock in his body. When he turned, and realized that she was holding his hand.
"Please, don't go," she pleaded. Her eyes were blank, but he saw that she was not feeling safe there.
Fenrir's heart ached at the sound of her voice, but he knew he couldn't stay. He turned to leave, his heart heavy with the weight of his own desire.
He took a deep breath, thinking of a way to make her understand. He knew it was not easy, so he did what he never planned to do.
"I have to go," he said softly. "Stay here, when it's safe. I'll come back for you."
He looked at her for a good few seconds to devour the beauty in front of him.
And with that, he left. He disappears into the woods, leaving Aurora alone in the cave.
