I cracked open my eyes. Where was I? It looked like I was in an ambulance. I could hear Emily crying. She was trying to encourage me, I think. Something sharp pricked my arm, though it wasn't nearly as bad as the pain in my stomach. I closed my eyes again. When I reopened them, I was lying on a bed, moving fast down a hallway with bright florescent lights. People were shouting, but I felt so out of it I couldn't quite focus on what they were saying.
"Valerie? Valerie, can you hear me honey?" A familiar voice asked. "Valerie, it's Dr. Holt, we met once, remember?" She asked, shining a light in my eyes.
I nodded and groaned. "My stomach..."
"We are going to take some blood and do a quick ultrasound, okay?" She nodded.
