Rider
I tossed and turned most of the night and when I glanced at my alarm clock, I saw it was five in the morning. I knew I wouldn’t fall back asleep, so I got up and decided I would workout before meeting with the others.
I threw on some gym shorts but didn’t bother with a shirt. I left my room and made my way out of the packhouse.
It’s pretty quiet at this time of the morning. Warrior training didn’t start till six, so the only people out and about were the warriors on night patrol and the omegas working in the kitchen. The rest of the pack members were all still asleep.
I was jogging through the forest when I heard laughing coming from the training grounds. My eyebrows furrowed together as I wondered who else was up this early. My curiosity got the better of me, and I made my way over to see who it was.
In the middle of the field, I saw Sophia, Emma, Conrad, Rory, and Matty standing in a circle joking with each other.
Even though there were five of them, my eyes only saw Sophia. She wore the shortest shorts I had ever seen with a black sports bra. Yes, her outfit was hot and made my d**k hard, but it also made some part of me angry. Why was she wearing so little? She was showing off way too much skin for my liking.
“OK. Who wants to spar with me?” I heard Sophia ask the group, and I swore my eye started twitching. If any of the guys started rolling around on the ground with her dressed like that, I would lose it. I couldn’t understand where this possessiveness was coming from.
“Sorry, I have a date tonight. I need to keep my face intact, so I’m sparring with Emma.” Matty winked at her in jest. Thank Goddess, I might have killed him if he sparred with Sophia.
“What makes you think I won’t mark up that pretty little face of yours?” Emma asked with a smirk.
“I won’t let you.” His cockiness was all it took for Emma to launch at him.
“Sorry, Soph. You know I love you, but getting my ass handed to me at five in the morning isn’t exactly my idea of fun. I’m playing it safe with Conrad.” Rory smacked Conrad on the shoulder, and I internally smiled, feeling pleased that no one wanted to spar with Sophia.
“You guys suck.” Sophia pouted as the others started training.
My feet moved of their own accord, and the next thing I knew, I was walking toward the training field. Sophia noticed my approach, and our eyes met briefly before I watched hers dip lower to my bare chest and abs. After a minute, when her eyes met mine again, I saw a flash of irritation before her expression turned cold.
“Oh great, here comes the fun police,” she grumbled, and the other stopped sparring to see what she was talking about.
“Looks like you need a partner.” I decided to ignore her snarky remark.
“No, I’m good, thanks,” she replied as she turned away from me to watch the others who had gone back to sparring.
“What is it? You scared?” I asked in a low, husky voice right next to her ear as I came to a stop directly behind her. I saw her shiver in response and goosebumps formed along her skin.
Interesting, I thought to myself.
“Of course not. If anyone should be scared, it’s you,” she snapped back, causing a smirk to spread across my face. I knew my previous comment would get a rise out of her.
“Oh really? Let’s see it then,” I challenged as I walked further into the field.
“Fine, you asked for it,” she said through gritted teeth as she came over to where I stood on the field. I knew she wouldn’t turn down a challenge. She was too proud for that.
We both got into a defensive stance, each assessing the other for any weaknesses. I needed to remain focused so I could win this fight. Her outfit, or should I say lack thereof, was definitely going to make it difficult.
She was the first to launch herself at me, but I predicted her movement and easily sidestepped. As she flew by, I hooked my arm around her neck and yanked her body to mine. She gasped at the unexpected action, and I quickly put her in a chokehold. Her small hands gripped my forearm, but I wasn’t about to let her go. Not until she surrendered to me. I applied a little pressure to her throat and could hear her gasping for air. I wasn’t cutting her airflow off completely, just enough so she would tap out.
“I thought I was supposed to be scared?” I whispered next to her ear. I could feel the frustration rolling off her in waves.
“Do you surrender?” I asked with a smirk on my face.
“Not a chance!” she forced out in one breath as she pushed her body back against mine before snapping forward, bringing me with her. The next thing I knew, I flew over her body and landed on the ground with a thud. The action took all the air out of my lungs.
Fuck.
Before I could get up, she jumped on top of me and tried to pin me down. I wasn’t going to lie; having her straddling me was throwing me off my game. I could feel my semi-hard c**k brushing against her core. All I could think about was how much I wanted to bury myself inside her.
What the f**k was that thought?
Of course, the distraction was enough for her to flip me over so I was face down. She grabbed one of my arms, yanked it to the center of my back, and used all her body weight to pin me down.
“Looks like all that training didn’t really help, did it? I can still beat you,” she taunted, and I knew there was a smirk on her face without having to see it.
She was fast and agile, I would give her that, but I had strength on my side. I rolled my body and could feel her struggling to keep me pinned. I used my free hand to push us off the ground as I rolled over. She ended up on her back with my entire weight on top of her. The sudden action must have caused her pain because I heard her hiss before her grip on my arm loosened, and I was able to pull it free. I spun around so I was facing her before grabbing both her hands and pinning them above her head.
“What were you asking about my training?” I hummed, unable to hide the amusement on my face.
She growled as she continued to twist her body beneath me. My eyes dipped to her chest, which was rising and falling rapidly, causing her perky t**s to jiggle. Because of the way I had her arms pinned, she had extra cleavage on display. Yup, I was pretty sure my c**k would be rock hard if she kept it up.
“Surrender,” I commanded, but she ignored me.
I wasn’t sure how she did it, but she managed to get her knee between our bodies before it made contact with my groin. I groaned in pain as my grip on her wrists loosened. She broke free from my hold before pushing me off her.
When the pain finally died down a little, I stood from the ground to meet a smug-looking Sophia. She was standing in a defensive stance, ready for another attack. I didn’t hesitate and immediately launched myself at her.

Rory
We were standing watching this epic battle between Rider and Sophia. Whenever I thought one of them was about to win, the other would pull some crazy move and the fight continued. It was intense, but what piqued my curiosity was the weird chemistry between them.
The fight went on for almost two hours. Neither one of them was willing to surrender to the other. They were so focused on one another that I was certain they had a clue we were watching. Not to mention, every one of our warriors had arrived and were also watching the fight.
The more I watched, the more I wondered if something was going on between them. If I was being completely honest, they were perfect together. Sophia wasn’t a planner; she was more impulsive, while Rider was the opposite; he needed a plan for everything. Together, they would be the perfect balance. Interesting.
“It’s ten minutes to seven. Should we break them up?” Matty asked.
“Nah, let them fight. Let’s see how long it takes them to snap out of their little bubble,” I replied, glancing at Matty with a mischievous smirk. He had a confused look on his face and clearly had no clue what was running through my mind.
“But I don’t want to be late. Rider kicked my ass during training the last time I was late,” Matty whined.
“Ummm... Matty. Who are we supposed to meet at seven a.m.?” Emma asked while trying to hide the amusement on her face.
I watched Matty think it over for a minute before a smile spread across his face.
“s**t. He’s never been late for anything in his life. I swear to the Moon Goddess, if today’s a first, I’ll never let him live it down,” Matty rubbed his hands together in excitement.
“Let’s go,” I said, and all three of them looked at me with confused expressions.
“Let them fight it out. We wouldn’t want to be late for our meeting,” I added with the same mischievous smirk.
Emma caught on to my thoughts because her expression mirrored mine. Meanwhile, Conrad and Matty were clueless. They still looked confused and even a bit concerned.
“We can’t leave. They might end up killing each other,” Conrad said while shaking his head.
“Nah, the only thing that might happen is them f*****g,” I replied, and both Conrad and Matty’s eyes went wide.
“No way,” Matty shook his head in disbelief.
“That will never happen,” Conrad added.
“I wouldn’t be so sure. Smell,” Emma stated, drawing all our attention to her. She inhaled deeply with a smirk on her face. We all followed suit, and sure enough, the unmistakable scent of arousal was thick in the air.
Conrad and Matty’s jaws practically fell to the ground as the realization sunk in.
“As I was saying, let’s not be late for our meeting,” I said while patting Matty and Conrad on the shoulder.
“But, but, but...” Conrad started, completely confused by what was happening.
“I’ll explain while we wait for them,” I replied. He nodded, but his eyes remained glued on the two currently rolling around on the ground in a very compromising position.
Conrad and Matty finally agreed to leave them, and we made our way back to the packhouse.
Usually, we would have given ourselves enough time to shower before the meeting, but with all the excitement, there wasn’t enough time for that, so we headed straight for Rider’s office.
Once in the office, I sat on the couch with Emma while Conrad and Matty sat silently across from Rider’s desk.
“Do you really think there’s something going on between them?” Matty asked while looking deep in thought.
“I’m not sure, but we’re going to find out,” I replied confidently.
“What do you mean?” Emma asked curiously.
“They’re both too stubborn to figure anything out on their own, so I’m just going to lend them a helping hand,” I replied mischievously.
“Oh, I don’t like where this is going. Keep me out of it. I don’t even want to know what you’re planning,” Matty shook his head from side to side.
“Settle down, big guy. It’s not like I plan on locking them up together…” I said and trailed off at the end. That actually didn’t sound like a bad idea now that I thought about it.
“Oh, hell no. Don’t even think about it,” Matty protested.
“OK, OK. I won’t do that, not yet anyway.” I smirked.
Matty was about to argue when the office door slammed open. Rider and Sophia stormed into the room, drenched in sweat and panting heavily.
I dramatically looked down at my watch before my eyes met with Rider’s.
“Seven-thirteen a.m., what time was the meeting supposed to start?” I raised an eyebrow. Emma was covering her mouth with her hand, in an attempt to hide the amusement on her face, while Conrad and Matty made no attempt to hide theirs.
“f**k off,” Rider growled before storming to his desk and taking his seat. He was definitely frazzled.
Sophia came over to the couch and sat between Emma and me. She was quiet compared to her usual self. Her cheeks were also flushed.
“Who won?” Matty asked with a cheeky grin. For a guy who was ultimately against my idea, he seemed to be enjoying poking the bear. Rider didn’t answer but simply glared at Matty.
“Let’s start the meeting,” Rider stated. I didn’t miss the silent warning in his eyes for us to drop the previous subject.
“Of course, we’ve been waiting a long time for you guys to grace us with your presence. Let’s begin.” I couldn’t resist taking one last jab. I swear, if looks could kill, I’d be dead. Rider was definitely not amused.
“I called all the other alphas last night, and they’ll be arriving on our territory by the end of the week,” Rider stated.
“In the meantime, I would like to start searching beyond our border for the rogue camp. If we can find their hideout, we can attack them while they aren't expecting it,” he continued.
“What about the vampires and witches?” Conrad asked.
“We don’t know much about their involvement yet, so there’s not much we can do about them. The only thing we’ve heard so far came from a rogue. He could have been lying,” Rider replied. It was true; we didn’t have much information about any of the attacks. Hopefully, the alpha meeting will shed some light on everything.
The meeting lasted about an hour. We decided that tomorrow we would break off into teams and start searching beyond the border. I wasn’t holding my breath that we would find anything, but it was worth a shot. It wasn’t like we had any other leads to follow up with.
I noticed that Sophia was unusually quiet throughout the meeting. She seemed to be lost in thought, and I wondered what was going through that pretty little head of hers.
As soon as Rider dismissed us, she hurriedly left the room. I had a feeling the next few weeks were going to be interesting.
