Grace was on cloud nine when she came running downstairs to the breakfast table to talk to her father.
Jake looked at his little princess all happy and running towards him. He smiled warmly to her before hugging her tight and leaving a peck on the top of her head.
“My lovely daughter, you look extremely happy today,” Jake spoke up pulling back from the hug. “I'm proud of you my girl!”
Grace grinned at him and sat on the chair beside her father. Maidens started to serve breakfast to both of them as they continued talking to each other.
“Thank you, dad. I knew I will be doing great but I never knew I will be among the top three students in our country. My hard work paid off more than my expectations!”
Every word that Grace spoke came out with a lot of enthusiasm and joy. But her words didn't reflect any satisfaction in them. She wasn't satisfied with her achievements yet.
“Yeah because you are my daughter,” Jake nodded proudly while munching on the slice of toasted bread with the jam on it.
But Grace didn't touch the breakfast yet. She sat looking at her father as if a small girl looking at her father and waiting for him to give her that special gift he promised to give.
“But Dad,” Grace spoke up. Her gaze is still stuck on her father who is busy finishing his breakfast in a hurry as if he was getting late to go somewhere.
“Dad,” she called him once again and he nodded.
“Yes, listening my love.”
“Dad, you told me something, you remember?” she raised one eyebrow. Her eyes didn't blink. Not unless her father will give her what she wants.
“Well, take this.”
Jake wiped his hands with the napkin before he pulled out his wallet from the inner pocket of his blazer and took out the black card from it to give it to Grace.
Grace always wished for at least once in her life to go for shopping on her own with that black card of her father. Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped in surprise when her father who always opposed her taking the black card was giving it to her with his own hands.
“Today, we will go out after the lunch to meet a VIP family of our country. Your mother will be coming too,” Jake explained to her today's planning. “I want you to join me with the family lunch after many years. Go and shop for designer brands and dress up well before coming with me. Today, the choice of clothes will be of your own. No one is stopping you from buying your style and you have no limit on spending money. Enjoy your first time alone shopping, my love.”
Grace gasped. “Do you mean what you said, dad?” It was hard to digest his words. He was always a type of person who saves money and opposes to spend money without limit. But today, he was different. Maybe because she topped in the country is what she guessed.
Jake nodded to her with a smile before standing in his place.
“I'm leaving for some important work to be done before lunch. Be ready before 2 PM, I will send someone to bring you to the hotel.”
Jake walked away from the table leaving Grace alone behind with the black card in her hand. She stood in her place and jumped in happiness.
“Whoa! I don't have to eat anything boring today!” she quickly ran away from the dining table, upstairs to her room.
Since childhood, she has always eaten what her father wanted her to eat except for the rare family lunch/dinner when she met her mother and she ordered all the food of her choice.
As from today she got her independence, Grace can finally take her own decisions and do whatever she wants.
She quickly dressed up, put her makeup on and grabbed the car keys before running downstairs to the parking to drive one of the most luxurious car her father owns.
“Today this beauty will be mine. Keep me safe, baby,” pecking on the car's dashboard, Grace proudly stepped inside the car and was all ready to go.

“Hey Lauren! Where are you? Girl, pick up my call. I think Peter is ignoring me, again!” Grace sent a voice mail to her best friend, Lauren.
“Call me as soon as you are free from your work, i need your help!”
Sending one last voicemail, she walked inside the mall for the shopping.
Peter, the chocolate boy and rich guy of her university. It all started by Peter getting his crush over Grace. She tried hard to not get trapped into his love, but his charming nature got her making him her first boyfriend. A secret one about whom rarely anyone knows.
However, as days passed, and years too, tables turned and Grace started loving her boyfriend more. The only reason for her to not study well and to not be on the first place in the country.
But she doesn't regret, she needed time to give to him too which he managed to waste by ignoring her. She doesn't know why but things worked even when he ignored her. Just a call to Luaren and she waved a magical wand sorting out things between them.
But recently, even her best friend is ignoring her after the exams. They planned to go to the girl's trip but she ended up going out with her family. And when she planned to go out with Peter, he cancelled it telling he will be out with his friends.
“Ofcourse, a girlfriend has no priority,” Grace grumbled while walking into the clothing store.
But unfortunately, she bumped into a man who was busy reading a book in his hand while walking out of the store.
“Sir, are you okay?” a man behind him asked the reading guy.
“Excuse me? You should be asking me if i'm okay?” Grace yelled who was the one fallen on the floor.
A store girl came running to help Grace but the man reading book stopped her. Giving his book to the other man behind him, he extended his hand for helping her stand in her place.
Grace rolled her eyes over him and stood on her own. “You should apologise, Mister!”
Grace was annoyed. She had mixture of feelings she doesn't know what it was. The annoyance of her boyfriend and her best friend ignoring her at the same time was making her take out her anger over the unknown man standing before her.
“I never do that, but i can give you something as a part of my apology,” he said calmly.
His voice was deep and soothing, deeper that anyone could get lost in it as Grace was. She stared in his eyes, didn't paying attention to what he was saying.
“Miss? Are you lost into something?” he asked.
“Yes,” she answered instantly making the other man chuckle. Grace finally came back to her senses.
“What? What happened?” she asked.
“Janet, can you give this Ms something to drink? I think she is very tired,” the man asked the store girl and she escorted her inside the shop.
“What? Hey! Apologize to me!” she shouted at him but the store girl bring her away from him.
“Ms, i will bring you coffee. Until then you can take a seat here or take a look around this place,” she excused and walked away.
Grace was left alone. She wasn't pleased to meet the stranger guy who was too arrogant to even ask for an apology.
However, she chose to look around the shop by forgetting about whom he met earlier. Grace felt like she was holding something in her hand. She opened the fist to see a ring.
It wasn't hers, then whose? Maybe it came in her hand when she bumped into that stranger and was looking for a support, his hand, while she was falling on the floor.
Vibrations of her mobile in the other hand dragged her out from her thoughts.
“Hey, Grace.” “I'm out with my boyfriend.” “Can we talk later?”
Lauren texted her.
Grace chuckled. “A boyfriend? When did she get one? Why didn't she tell me?”
“Hey Ms,” the same deeper voice startled Grace from behind. “I think you are holding onto something that is mine,” he said.
Grace quickly turned around to look at him. He was the same annoying man but her heart skipped a beat. She trembled but he caught her holding onto his hand by her waist. He was close, close enough to make her shout for help.
“Wh- why are you here?” Grace asked him.
“My ring,” he answered.
Giving her a quick smile, he made her stand straight in her place and stepped back from her. “I think you have it, give it to me?” he extended his hands towards her.
Grace smirked. The arrogant man said he never apologise, what if she makes him do it, now? For the ring?
“Apologizs first, Mr” she said arrogantly.
