It finally goes too far. I can no longer deny it. It has to stop. The morning starts like any other—too damn early. Neither of us wants to get up, but Aaron’s back on daylight shift and I’m expected at the office. Still, the alarm clock buzzes twice before I finally get going. The shower wakes me up a bit—wasn’t there a time we’d do this together? Lathering each other up, snickering under the spray, making love pressed against the wet tiles… I push the memories away. That was so long ago, a different time, a different man. Not the one still sleeping in my bed. Not the one here beneath the spray, trying to tell himself everything is still all right between them. Even after I’m dressed and ready, Aaron hasn’t budged. It takes all I have to wake him. The pills do that, make him too tired
