Changing

Phoebe spent 2 months in Port Machlin where the Supernatural University was at, where she had got a full ride scholarship because of her assessment scores and the note in her file that her scores had been restricted because of Pack politics. The news of Dark Moon Pack and what the investigations of the Council had uncovered had been making the news for weeks now, and Alpha James was going on trial in a few months for the treatment of women in his Pack against Council Law. Phoebe had refused to say she was part of the Pack, as she had renounced all ties to it. She was working as a waitress in a small diner at the wharf, because her schooling didn't start for another month, and she had no desire to be entirely reliant on the Supernatural Council. She was on the morning shift, working from 4 to 10 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday. It was one of the two shifts that got plenty of tips, as workers going into work and going home would stop in for the wonderful breakfast items they had available. She would usually make between 100 and 300 dollars a day, Friday and Saturday her best days where she could make 500 or more. It was more than enough for her to live off of, and even have some left over to save until she started school. Once the semester started she would save money because her housing would be paid for, and she had no desire to stop working once that happened. Her boss was a Fairy who she had identified easily when she first arrived, asking about the job they were hiring for. The manager had hired her on the spot, despite her refusing to tell the woman which Pack she was from. Today however her coworkers demanded she join them at a club, telling her that she wouldn't be paying for any of her drinks that evening. They had all pitched in for a conference meeting in the club, which came with a drink plan that they were covering with tips that they pooled together for celebrations out of the tipping pool. So at 7 pm, she entered the club with her coworkers as they were celebrating already with the haircuts and dresses they had bought that day for that very purpose. "So girly, what are you hoping to be?" Ashley Willis asked her as they ordered their first round of cocktails. "Hadn't really considered it before now. I guess the only thing I don't want to become is a Wolf." she said taking a sip of her Cosmopolitan. Unlike in the human world, Supernaturals could drink at 18 because of their increased metabolism and the fact that alcohol alone was extremely difficult to effect them. Her answer however made her friends laugh as the club began filling up with people, and the music started from the DJ coming on. "Why not a Wolf?" Jessica Simon asked as her Pack lived a few miles south of the city. "I'm sure your Pack is far different than the one I grew up in, but I don't have any desire to spend my life living like that." Phoebe answered taking another drink. As it got closer to 10 o'clock in the evening Phoebe began feeling strange as it felt like the sounds in thecub were overwhelming her mind. She was getting hotter and hotter, and knew it had nothing to do with the drinks she was consuming. She swore she could hear the hearts of the people surrounding her pumping their blood through her veins. 'What is happening?' she asked Lilith in her mind. 'Not a clue.' Lilith replied as they both felt like their blood was burning inside of her body. Unknown to her a Vampire was watching her from the VIP area, and could smell as her scent changed from unchanged to Vampire. He growled as he ran to her and grabbed her arm. "What were you thinking of coming here on your changing day? Follow me." he said as he aggressively pulled her as her head began pounding. "Changing only happens on the full moon." she replied as the sound stopped after a door closed behind them. The unknown man laughed as he threw her onto a couch and walked over to a safe and opened it. "Vampires change on their 18th birthday, how do you not know that?" he demanded. "Because I didn't know I was a Vampire, and your secrets are not exactly well known to the outside world." Phoebe replied as he grabbed a glass and poured a red fluid that smelt like it was the most enticing thin she had ever smelt. "Drink this slowly." he said as he handed the glass to her and she took a big gulp of it which cooled the fire in her blood. "How did you not know you were a Vampire? We do not breed with those outside of our race." he said confused. "Apparently some do, especially when they rape and pillage Packs of Werewolves." she replied taking another small sip as it dawned on her what she was drinking. "This is blood, isn't it?" she asked. "It is indeed blood, and there hasn't been a Vampire Rogue in nearly 20 years." he said as he looked at her and saw her purple eyes and was shocked. "Well that explains that, as it was a Prince of the Royal Family that was turned Rogue for his appetites." Phoebe laughed as she looked at him. "Do you have some red wine or something I could add to this so it isn't as thick?" she asked as he smiled a grabbed a bottle off of the desk and topped off the half full glass before he stirred it for her. "What did you mean by that explains what?" she asked before taking another sip. "Only the Royal Families Vampires have purple eyes, and your eyes were just glowing purple. You must be very close to making your first change, but it also presents a problem. If the Vampire Council knew, they would do whatever it took to kill you." he said to her. "Well that would be the norm for me, as no one has ever cared if I lived or died." Phoebe said to him before taking another gulp as the pain was starting to increase again and the blood cooled it. "How long will it take?" she asked him. He was a little shocked as he sat on the desk. "The first change usually takes about an hour. For the Council to discover you, that will depend entirely upon you and what you do." he said as she looked at him curiously. "What race was your mother when you were born?" Phoebe looked at him curiously. "Human, changed to a Werewolf the day I was born to save her life." The man chuckled as he heard that and smiled. "Yes, those outside of our race generally do not survive the birthing process of a Vampire. The only real question is are you a true Vampire, or are you something else." he said as he sat there. "What do you mean?" she asked him. "Vampires can have several different types of children depending on what Race they breed with. We have laws that prevent procreation with other Races because some of them are less than friendly, even to us. My name is Dante, what is yours?" he asked. "Phoebe, what types of creatures?" she asked. "Succubus, Strogoli, Aswang, Banshees. Essentially every type of Demon you have ever heard of in Human mythology is a type of Vampire. Depending on what Race we have bread with. For Humans, the result is either Full Vampire or Dhampir. Essentially half vampire, that only requires blood during their first change." he told her honestly. "Fortunately she was not Werewolf or I would kill you here and now myself." he told her as she saw his eyes flash purple for a second before they returned to a piercing cold blue. "Where Werewolves can only reproduce with Humans, and they wanted more children than myself and 2 older siblings, she wasn't changed until she gave birth to me." Phoebe said making him laugh. "What's so funny?" she asked as he stopped. "Werewolves can mate with eachother like regular Wolves, however there is a chance part of the litter will be just that, true wolves." Dante said with a smile as she drank the last of the blood in the glass and he took it from her. Phoebe blushed a little as she had been taught differently, but wasn't surprised by this piece of information. "Let's just say that my education until now may have been tainted by stupid Werewolf prejudice than." she said making him laugh as he filled the cup again and this time mixed it with the mine before handing it to her. "You can thank the Wolf Council for that, as it is their directive." he told her. "The question is what will we do with you? Unless you turn out to be full Vampire, the Vampire Council will not take kindly to your existence." Phoebe glared at him as she drank more of the blood tinted wine. "Who says they need to be told?" "It is law that I must tell them. That and who your father most likely was will interest them alot." he said with a smile. Phoebe smiled as she remembered the Supernatural Council Laws. "Correct me if Inam wrong, but if a subject of a Council is raised under the tutelage of another, they are subject of the laws of the Council they were raised under?" she asked as he nodded. "True enough." Dante answered nodding as he poured the last of the bag if blood into a different wine glass and mixed it with the wine as well. "That means I am still a subject of the Wolf Council, not the Vampire Council. So the Vampire Laws do not apply, as the only Wolf law is that Werepires are to be killed on sight. Dhampir's are not subject to immediate kill orders." she told him boldly making him smile. "I am aware, but Dhampir's not under the protection of a Vampire House may be hunted by all Vampires because of what they are usually trained to do." he said as she remembered most Dhampir in history were Vampire Hunters. Phoebe smiled as she looked at him. "Seems we are at an interesting crossroads. I guess the question is what are you going to do?" she asked curious. "I will have to decide that later, for now I am going to help you through your first change, and than take you to the clinic tomorrow to determine what you are." he said. "I really need to return to my friends, I didn't come alone." Phoebe told him as she felt much better as she finished the second glass. "Fine, be here at noon tomorrow. Let me assure you it would be a bad idea to be late, and if you feel the burning return order an infused wine at the bar. They will know what it means." he said as they both stood and he escorted her back into the noise of the club.
