Chapter 2 The air around him moved and he bolted upright with a sharp breath, blindly groping for a weapon that wasn’t propped next to his cot where it was supposed to be. “Danny?” Levi snapped his fingers in front of his face and Danny forced his panic down as soon as he saw his littlest, in every sense of the word, brother. The rest of his room filtered in through the fog of his mind a detail at a time. The warm covers wrinkled around him and a soft mattress under his clothed back and legs came first, then the sturdy cream walls, the wood floor, the plain furniture came into focus.
