Chapter 16She woke up first this morning. She had always got excited about the Fourth of July since she was a kid. She jumped in the shower and got ready while he was still snoring. When she had finished getting ready it was 7:30 a.m. She hoped that he wouldn’t mind if she made herself at home again in his kitchen. She brewed a pot of coffee and made a quick and easy breakfast of grits, scrambled eggs and sausage links that she had found in the refrigerator. She also found some bananas that she cut one in half and sliced down the middle to put on each side of their plates. Once she was done, she went to head upstairs to wake him up and let him know that breakfast was ready.
