Chapter 22 - Enduring Love
Maybell groaned as she bit her lip hard and ignored the searing jolt that caressed her core as she took slow half baby steps from the bathroom back to her hospital bed. Everything lower then her belly button was sore and the act of squatting summoned a serious reevaluation of all her life choices. She cursed the mesh in her core that made each shift a new exploration in discomfort.
Before this Maybell had enjoyed a nice leisurely run around the pond next to her apartment every week, not to mention long hard walk from work to the park on her lunch break each day. She was not some skinny stick, but she was slim, fit and strong. Her health had never been so diminished as it was in that moment.
