Chapter Fifteen - Too Much
A long moment passed. Then Maybell tightened her fists and glanced at the only other person still standing in the room. “Mom Please…..” she begged brokenly.
“But baby you shouldn’t be alone….” Ursula started to argue anxiously, feathering the hair at Maybells cheek back behind her right ear so she could grasp her face and look her in the eyes tenderly.
Maybell shared her mother gentle gaze for a moment but there was something in that look. The pity in her mother’s gaze only made Maybell hurt more inside so she leaned forwards and kissed her mother on the cheek. Then with a sharp sob Maybell closed her eyes, pulled back and asked again. “Mom please…”
