Staring at the view from the car window, I can’t stop myself from thinking about my mom’s story earlier, what happened, and how did their ways separated a love so great that it is unbreakable, she said, but why did destiny choose to pull them away. A soul connected together is found, but you become lost once you lose your half, just like my grandma’s. Her soul died with him. It was always with him, hmm pitiful, wasn’t it? A love so divine makes you feel alive, but love is so powerful once lost; everything to you is you just can’t find your way anymore. You just wake up and ask, “where the hell am I? What am I doing here” you’ll go nuts. If only I finished my mom’s story, then I know how it goes and ended “ah, stupid, maybe I’ll just ask her sometime.”
“Hey, Salvy, do you want some chips?” my dad asked as my thoughts were pushed away from my head.
“Oh yeah, let me have some. What about ma?” *snores* I looked at her and saw her sleeping like a baby. Her mouth was open as she snored. She was still active just a minute ago. How fast could this person even fall asleep
“Hey Salvy, do you believe in soulmates?” my dad questioned, whispering so he’ll not startle ma.
“Well, maybe, it’s not really that impossible, but I bet you don’t, you dork” I slightly laugh at my remark as he grins this time. His face was different. It was bright and full of joy. Even if it was just a slight grin, it resembles mom’s face earlier.
“Why do you look so thrilled? It’s disgusting,” I joked as I laughed at his reaction without seeing what was coming for me *boink* he hit me in the head.
“You dimwit!!”
“Ouch! Why did you hit me, pa? You indeed look like a creep.” rubbing my head as I continued to laugh at his reactions, still teasing him.
“HAHAHAHAHAHHA pa, you really look like a creep. You’re so ugly I can’t stop laughing HAHAHAHA” my stomach was beginning to hurt as I burst out on laughing as my father faced looked so depressed right now.
“Hey, come on, I was just joking,” I said while tapping his shoulders and laughing.
“ Really, son?” he asked.
“ Nope,” I said and continued laughing at his face.
“Do I really look that ugly when I’m in love?” He questioned
“In love what? To who?” I asked, confused with his statement. Does she have another girl? Is he telling me now what do I do? Mom is sleeping here just beside us. What if she hears? If not, how do I tell her I don’t want to hurt her, but I don’t want to lie to her either what should I do
“Your mother, of course. Who else would it be, you silly kid.” as he smiles those smiles so genuinely, I can Identify it clearly, so this is yours, huh pa? The face you do when you feel love, just like mom’s, you shine bright.
“You know love actually doesn’t go well as you think, Salvy you know that very well, and you know I’m not your real father, but I love your mom and you so much,” he said
“Pa, why are you being cheesy right now? This isn’t you,” I said, teasing him again.
“She once was lost, but our souls find each other”
“What are you saying, pa,” I asked, tilting my head as I know where this line came from, and I just can’t believe that it’s coming from his mouth
“It’s just that I think and I feel that your mother is my soulmate,” he stated
“No s**t?!! You believe in soulmates?!” I shouted in disbelief at my father’s word. This cannot be true
“SALVY LANGUAGE, YOU YOUNG MAN, YOULL BE DEAD TO ME,” my mom howled as she was awake all this time, or I just woke her up at my sudden noise.
“Have you heard that, honey?” pa asked, a little embarrassed
“No,” ma said, denying while looking entirely like a tomato, and pa knew the honest answer. Flirt somewhere else; love birds, not in front of your child!
In a while, we just started playing games and anything to not get bored in the car. I didn’t. The trip was so fun that we did not even notice that we were already here.
“Well, this is it, our new home,” pa said, delighted his face as he took a deep breath and headed out of the car.
I hurry straight out of the car and walk up to the hill. I awed in amazement at the alluring sight that brought me joy and excitement. I jumped and ran as if I were a child and let it all out.
“Whooo!” I shouted and smiled brightly after letting the excitement flow through my body.
“shh, people are trying to sleep here f*cker,” one of the people near our new house complained.
“Eh, oh right, I’m sorry,” I apologized while rubbing the back of my neck embarrassed, is it just me, or people here really are... different. They are scary *shrugs* I thought, but I know there are still some who are not.
“Wow,” I whispered to myself as I was staring from the top view of the city. I can imagine my eyes filled with sparkles as it reflects the different city lights. It’s already night. It is supposed to be dark, but the road is still busy with cars and stoplights that color the pitch-black sky. They all seem like a blinking spot of lights as if it was like Christmas. What do you call those things? I think for a moment, “a yes Christmas lights,” whispering to myself. Small cars were running around as this is what it looks like from the top of the city. I wonder how gigantic will the buildings look from up close. The cold breeze was not like those winds in Amanecer, but it’s enough to send shivers to my body as it strikes my adrenaline. It made me feel thrilled I closed my eyes, imagining what my life would be like here as I was feeling the wind blow, this place is not that quiet, but it seems so peaceful or not, oh god. Just when I thought this place was agreeable to live at, I heard the bush rustled. I think someone had just passed by, so I look back to see who it was when it suddenly retakes a step.
“Hey, who’s there?” I asked, and it went silent for a bit, so I asked again to make sure I just didn’t imagine things.
“Hey, answer me. Who are you,” I asked again as I hear the footsteps coming closer.
“Don’t come any closer; I dare you.”
“woof woof,” I heard a dog barked as then suddenly a creature ran towards me and wrestled me to the ground.
“Ahhhh!!! Help me. I’m going to die!” I cried as I called out for help
“HAHAHAHA, stop it already, Coco,” someone laughed and called out a name,
“Coco what?, who’s Coco,” I thought, then suddenly the creature stopped attacking me. Well, it was not killing me. The beast was just licking me. I just felt like I was getting attacked
“Who are you?!” I asked with a tone in my voice
“Calm down; she’s just a dog. she won’t harm you,” the man said
“Stop playing games. Just tell me, who are you, okay,?” I questioned
“Okay, okay, I’ll answer. I’m Valiente, and this is Coco, my dog,” he replied as I was trying to catch a glimpse of his face still. I can’t quite see him. It was dark, and all I could see was Coco and its shiny golden brown hair
“Look, I’m sorry, I think my dog likes you. She was constantly wagging her tail when she smelled something and just ran towards your direction, it was dark, and I lost my grip on her leash, but I’m glad she didn’t eat you,” he explained
“Stop joking around, and she’s a she! Man, she looks like a boy, and why did you give her a boy’s name, stupid” I protested while petting the dog
“Who’s a good girl? You are, you are!” I said, changing the tone in my voice; what a cute and kind dog she is
“Well, first of all, mister, she is my dog, not yours, and second, why do you seem good at befriending dogs but crying for help just a while ago” he derided “ah! The nerve hmp”
“Well, I’m sorry. I just thought some creature attacked me. It’s too dark in here,” I said, and the dog just licked me in the face. She’s so cute I might just take her home with me, hmm, as I hugged Coco.
“Looks like Coco made a new friend,” Valiente commented
“Yeh, she’s much better at making friends than you; you’re so cold,” I interjected as a sly smirk form from my lips, an act of revenge for mocking me earlier.
“You… never mind,” he murmured.
“We should get going. It’s late; get some rest too,” Valiente said while heading off.
“Aww already, but I still want to pet Coco,” I said as he chuckles
“Can I keep him?”I beg with my considerable pleading, puppy eyes, and Coco just whined with me as if she wanted it to; I mean, this dog is just precious. It’s killing me, argh.
“Coco, what the actual… you’re not picking me?” he asked, his nose scrunched up, making conversation with his dog like they can understand each other; Coco suddenly stands and licks me again as she walks off to his owner “noo! Don’t leave me, doggo,” I said in my mind while doing my drama.
“Well, okay, goodbye Valie! but wait, hey, I didn’t get a chance to see your face !” I said while sending coco off to him
“Don’t call me that, and don’t give me nicknames,” he demanded and walked away.
“Tsk hmmp, such a jerk,” I mumbled before saying goodbye
“Okay, Valie! Bye, Coco come back soon, okay?” I shouted as I was waving them goodbye. They can’t probably see me, but I just like to do it; maybe Coco would look back. I don’t think she did, but she barks as a reply so adorable, I shouted Coco’s and Valie’s names again, and I can hear him being annoyed.
“Can I pet coco again!” I shouted just to irritate him more.
“No! My dog, get your own!” he replied like a possessive boyfriend. I was just laughing my ass out, and after that, a small smile plastered on my lips.
Just being in this city for a couple of minutes was enjoyable, I thought as I walked back to our place and looked up the star as I wondered things in my head.
“hmmm..what would it be like to live here? What will people be like in the city? I’m sure they’ll be wonderful. I’m sure this place is wonderful,”
“ Salvador, where have you been? Tch never mind, please stop daydreaming for a while and help us with our things,” Ma shouted, getting the things inside our car trunk.
“hehe, sorry ma, I got distracted,” I replied as I scratched the back of my neck, smiling.
“shall I take that you like it here, eh-eh?” she asked while knocking her elbows in my stomach.
“well yeah, ma, I’m all excited to explore this new place and worried at the same time,” I explained,
“well, you don’t have to worry; you’ll have a lot of time cause from now on, this is our new home, right?” she replied, reassuring me as she turned her head and smiled at me.
“Maybe you’ll find a girl like me in here.”
“What no, I don’t like to,” I objected at the sudden statement of my mother.
“What did you say?! You don’t like to find someone like me?!” she barked, eyes infuriated, ready to come at me anytime*gulps*.
“What! No, no, you got the wrong idea, ma, it’s not like that,” I replied, shaking my head as I tried to calm her down, stepping back a little for a somewhat surprise attack; someone, please help me.
“Oh, so then you don’t like girls?” she asked as her face calmed down, and I could feel myself all flustered from the sudden question of my mother.
“What are you talking about, ma! I’m just saying that I’m not yet interested in these kinds of things and that( blah blah blah),” I protested, voice shaky; I was blabbering non-stop because of a sudden panic.
“Oh yeah, Salvy, I get it, I get it! Stop that now,” She requested, scratching her hair like it was getting on her nerves and confused at the same time. She just wants me to stop.
“But then it’s not like that, this, that,” I continued as simply I’m lost in my thoughts.
“For the love of God, Salvy, would you just shut up?!” My mother commanded as she slaps me to finally get my attention, and I was back
“That actually hurt ma, tsk,” I complained as I was touching my face where she hit me.
“But then, if you ever meet her, let us know her,” she said and winked at me.
“Oh, okay, ma,” I replied.
“Or him, who knows,” she added and just walked out on me, leaving me dumbstricken as I was looking at her walking towards our house as if nothing happened.
“Huh, I wonder if I will ever meet my soulmate. What if I don’t even have a soulmate.” my thought talking to me as I turn around one last time to view the city
“A whole new world, a different life where would this lead me then, whatever it is, I’m ready Twilight City!” I said as I plastered a big smile on my lips and walked into our house
