I was awakened by a strange rumbling sound. I quickly blinked my eyes open, only to see three rogues right in front of me, growling deeply, their dark eyes locked on me. Koda had taken a protective stance in front of me, trying to shield my body.
“Easy, Koda,” I said, as the rogues growled at us, clearly ready to pounce. Slowly, I maneuvered to get my legs under me, ready to run if needed. I reached for a knife attached to my leg for added security.
The rogues watched me intensely, clearly intent on harming me, but I was not going down without a fight. Grabbing a chunk of Koda’s fur, I held on tight and shouted, “Run!”
As soon as the command left my lips, one of the rogues lunged towards us. Koda was already obeying my command and veering to the side, with me close behind.
