I would often reach for my phone to see if he had texted me or would call me, but I would end up disappointed every time. Harper did her best to keep me entertained and distracted, but really, I just needed time. “Mom?” Right now, the person I truly needed was my mother. Despite everything, she got up every day, went for a walk, ate, and took care of herself. I didn’t know how she found the strength to do it, but she did, and I admired that.
