10 Richard had barely slept after that, his mind racing through a myriad of possibilities and explanations. Perhaps the lights were some sort of mirage. He didn’t know, but whatever he thought they might be, there was no shifting the brewing fear inside. By the time morning came and he sat up, he must have looked a dreadful sight. His dad commented on the fact as he pulled on his shirt. “You look like a panda,” he mumbled. “Thanks.” “Couldn’t sleep? Pity. I was flat out as soon as my head hit the pillow.” He sniggered, picked up his toothbrush, stepped out into the hallway, and padded along to the bathroom.
