CHAPTER THREETamara awoke with a start and jumped out of bed. She pulled back the curtains and, as the sunlight flooded in, she told herself that today would be better. Things would be brighter both for herself and the children. The nurseries looked out at the back of The Castle and she could see flower gardens which were a kaleidoscope of colour, walls of Tudor red brick and woods that rose dark, green and mysterious to the skyline. It was very beautiful and Tamara felt her spirits rise. ‘There will be lots of places to explore and the children will love that,’ she thought to herself. ‘I will ask the Duke if they can ride and perhaps I can go with them.’ Her eyes shone at the thought of riding really fine horses.
