The sun shone brightly down into my eyes, and there was a soft chill in the air. I took a deep breath, soaking up the cold air before the heat of the day set in. I sat up, and my body was stiff from sleeping on the hard ground. I hadn’t ever slept outside before, but it was almost a refreshing change from the mounds of pillows and blankets I was used to. My fingers ran over my body, feeling all of the wounds from the previous day. Most of them were completely gone now. My ribs were still sore, but I had a much better range of motion. Pulling up the pants, I checked on the crossbow wound. It had closed up, but it still needed a little time to fully heal. I was sure by tomorrow I would be as good as new.
