It was a moment of jubilation for Lucas when he heard that he was going to the city of uzoma to further his education, Lucas had completed his secondary education in the only secondary school in is village,IGHALU community high school, IGHALU but there was no university where he could continue his education including his neighbouring villages OJOKU and DAKU. His government teacher had told him many fascinating thing about the city of Uzoma,its street lights, lagoon, ocean, high rise buildings, industries and so on. Uzoma city therefore held so much attraction for him that he usually dream of going there.

When he heard the information that he will be proceeding to the city after being admitted by one of the university where he had a very strict cousin,Bro.Mayowa to live with,he became excited, indeed his excitement made him lose his sleep the night before his journey to the city,He told all his friends that he was going to the city,His friends began to call him 'city boy' not because they admired but because of envy.

The day came,he was leaving for a city of his dream. He woke up as early as 4:30 am and packed all his belongings, clothes, books,shoes e.t.c into two bags. At 7am he was accomplished to the bus station, His bags were kept in the luggage compartment of the bus and he boarded it. Not long after the bus left the station,he felt asleep that was precisely why he didn't know when a passenger mistakingly took away one of his bags, The bus eventually got to the city,he alighted from the bus only to discover that one of his bags was missing. Although, search yielded no positive results. He was quite disturbed but he endured it, After all he was in the city of uzoma. His cousin and his friend Dele was to guide him home, they have been waiting at the bus station hours on end.

He got the first shock when they reach the hostel,He greeted in excitement expecting a warm reception,his cousin in reply asked him what foodstuff his parents had sent to him,Lucas replied in negative,his cousin began to rant,Are you going to feed on 'air' here?Do your parents not know I have my own burden? I doubt if they want you to stay in the school, Lucas was quite embarrassed and his excitement gave way to tears which rolled down his cheeks. He was been bullied both at home by his cousin and in school by some of his friends, though he has a young stature,he tried to accept his fate because knew the suffering was just for a limited period of time, hoping he will be a graduate one day. Lucas tried to find the love of his life but his efforts was jeopardize in the sense that many ladies declined taking them out on date because of his financial instability.

He have to humble himself and also to face his studies for better days ahead,on the long run joined the school political group.
