Isabella’s P.O.V.You know, the feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you’re saying a goodbye to someone, you’ll be seeing for the last time. That is exactly how I‘m feeling right now as I enter my room.
I don’t know what I expected, but when I enter the room and see Caleb sitting on my bed with his back towards me; I feel relieved. The way how his body turns stiff as he becomes conscious of my presence does not go unnoticed by me.
I know what I have to do. Just go through the night and everything will be fine tomorrow, is the only mantra going through my mind. I slowly make my way towards him, standing in between his legs; I place my hands on his shoulder to make him acknowledge my presence.
He slowly wraps his hand around my waist and pulls me towards him, in a tight embrace.
This is not what I expected.
But I can’t deny that this is much better than what I expected. I wrap my arms around his head and just enjoy whatever time is left to enjoy his company. He will always be my number one. But what’s supposed to happen it will and no force on this planet can change it.
While raking my hands through his hair, I open my mouth to say that I’m sorry but he beat me to it and says, “I’m sorry Princess, for being a shitty friend.”
I just move my hands to his face and move it so he can see my face and reply, “You are anything but shitty Cal. Don’t beat yourself over it.”
“Can we go to sleep princess? I am exhausted” grumbled Caleb. It was visible, that he was thinking too much about it and was tired from all those running thoughts.
Can I really blame him for it?
I nodded and settled on the bed, once he shifted further. It was a normal thing for us to have a sleepover and maybe this was the last time of them all.
As I lay on my side, he slowly settled beside me and moved so his face was concealed in the crook of my neck. It wasn’t weird or uncomfortable; more like it was a very familiar feeling.
His arm came around my waist and I wrapped my hand around his, which was holding me in place. His breathing evened and that’s how I knew, he was already asleep.
Seeing him hurt and in pain, hurt me like hell; all I could think bout was if Mason could feel it. This thought worried me about facing him tomorrow.
What is he hates me for letting Caleb sleep in my bed, even after finding about him?
Calm down Bella. He is our mate. He will understand, Aurora whispered.
With her words in my mind, I slowly dozed off to sleep.
Mason’s P.O.V.Something wasn’t fine. I could feel it. The uneasy feeling running through my veins, I just couldn’t point out what it was. I have this feeling from the moment I reached back home.
No one knows that I found my mate, YET. I plan to tell them at dinner time and I can’t wait for dinner anymore. The feeling arrives again.
What the hell I happening to me? What is this felling that’s clawing at my heart? Could it be here? Maybe she is missing me and that’s why I’m feeling it.
How am I supposed to verify, whether it’s because of her?
That’s when I hear my sister giggling at something her mate, who is also my Gamma said. They are sick in love, too much of affection for my eyes. I understand that they have marked each other and are mates, but I’m still her brother and looking at your sister going at it, is not a sight any brother wants to see.
She enters my office, without knocking. This woman never learns. I look at her and see a pair of arms around her waist. My attention moves towards her face and notice another face right behind her. I’m already restless and now I have to handle their Goofy eyes s**t.
Like seriously, go get a room.
Rach notices my agitated expression and gets concerned. That’s the thing about my sister that I love the most. No matter what she is doing, if she senses me troubled, she leaves everything and stays by my side till I get through it.
“You okay bro?” she inquires using her baby voice.
“I don’t know. I mean kind of think that I do. I just don’t know, if it is the reason of not” I reply.
Blake laughs and says, “You don’t make sense man. Try to speak in English this time. Maybe then she will understand”
I scowl at him and look at Rach who has a confused expression on her face. Did I really not make any sense? Why is she looking at me, as if I spoke in Dutch?
“Okay Rach. I need to ask you something. Will you help me out with it?” I ask her.
She nodded endlessly and says, “Of course I will. What is it about?”
I know it’s stupid to beat around the bush about such topics, so I plan to get it out for once and for all and be done with it; which is why I say. “Do you feel restless, like a clawing feeling at your heart, when you’re away from Blake or when he misses you?”
She looks at me weirdly, raising her eyebrow and says, “Nooooo. I don’t feel like that when he misses me.” I don’t know why, but her reply saddens me.
Why do I want her to be the reason for it?
When she sees my expression she continues, “Although I do feel the Clawing thing, when he is in pain, the emotional one”
All I say is O. suddenly, a switch flicks in her and she looks excitedly at me. I know what has got her all excited and what is going to be her next question. She jumps away from Blake’s hold and comes towards my desk with a hop in her step.
Asking, “Did my brother find his Mate?” I let her ponder on that thought a little bit. My silence makes her worried. She holds both her hand together, as if she is praying and mumbles, “Please say yes, please say yes” like a mantra.
Such a silly woman.
I find it really hard to control it in any longer and decide to spill the beans by adding, “Yes I did.” Pausing and looking at her now smiling face to continue, “And I think you’ll like her.”
Without even taking a breather, she jumps “Is she someone I know? Is she from our pack? Is she from our College? Who had their 18th birthday recently in our pack?” She turns to her mate and asks, “DO you know, who celebrated their 18th birthday recently, Blakey boy?”
He denies about knowing it, which makes her turn her expression towards me again. I smile at her eagerness and curiosity. I want to make her more restless thinking about it, but knowing myself, I know I won’t be able to.
“Oh come on brother. Tell me who the lucky woman is?” whines Rach. I just smile at her, with excitement bubbling inside me and say, “More like I’m the Lucky man.”
“Will you stop with the excuses and tell me, who she is?” she shouted. Okay now she is losing her patience, which is not a good thing. SO I finally tell her who my mate is, “its Isabella.”
Silence, the only sound which can be heard is the sound of the ventilation system mixed with the sounds of our shallow breathes. Until a loud shrill passes through the house, the person responsible for it being none other than my sister.
“My Isabella. The one who has classes with me? The one who broke Veronica’s nose? The one who stood up against you like she doesn’t care whoever you are and indirectly told you to f**k off?” says Rachel excitedly.
“Hey, she never said anything like that.” Now it was my turn to whine.
That’s when Blake says, “She totally did man. She was like, It wasn’t a pleasure meeting you’ll; hope to see you’ll never” and laughs.
Okay maybe she did.
But that was before she knew that we were mates. She won’t say that now. As I’m busy thinking about my girl, I feel it again, the clawing feeling.
My distressed expression alarms Rachel and she asks, “Feeling the pain again?” to which I just nod. She settles herself in the chair placed opposite me and says, “She is an emotionally wreck, Mason. That is the only reason, why you’re feeling this pain.”
When the thought settles down, I feel like going all the way to her pack and hold her in my arms and talk her to sleep. That is when I realize, I don’t even have her number.
What kind of a mate am I?
Rachel asks, “Do you know, which pack she belongs too?”
I nod and answer, “She is the Warrior head at the Blue Moon Pack” hearing this, both of a left open-mouthed staring at me like I just spew led s**t.
Blake is the one who broke the silence first, “Did you just say Warrior Head?”
“No doubt, that punch broke the she-devils nose?” is what Rachel added before both of them ended up laughing their heads out.
Soon it was time for dinner and everyone was here, my parents, my Beta, Gamma, Rachel and our pack’s Warrior head and his mate. I planned to tell them once we were done with our dinner but while having it, the pain came back and it was much worse than before.
I couldn’t bare it and hunched down a little holding my hand at my heart. My sister was by my side within a few seconds, rubbing my back to make it go away. It wasn’t a physical pain, which could be healed or lulled by gestures like these. It was due to the mate bond and there wasn’t any chance of it healing anytime soon.
At least not until tomorrow I guess.
Mom and Dad had panicked look as they followed Rachel and stood by my side. Seeing everyone worried sick, Rachel it was the right moment to spill the news, “Mason found his mate” is all she said and just like that everyone rejoiced.
What are the happy about? I’m still grimacing in pain here people.
“The pain is, what his mate is going through, it’s the bond” she added. Everyone settled down in their seats again and continued with their food. Soon, the pain subsided and I was irritated. Not due to my mate, but my family. They didn’t give a s**t about my pain, what kind of family do I have?
The loving kind?
“Thanks a lot for being concerned about me people” I retorted the words laced with sarcasm. Dad just chuckled and mom replied, “Oh shut it boy, you’re feeling it a little bit more because the bond you share with your mate is much stronger than the normal mate bond. So quit your whining and go through it.”
“Mom, you are supposed to be the one on my side. I’m your son” I couldn’t help but whine. She hasn’t even met her yet and she is already taking her side, what will happen when she meets her?
“She must be very special, if the bond is this stronger?” Mom continued.
“You guys are already on her side and you haven’t even met her yet. Once you meet her, you are going to abandon me” I complained.
Everyone started laughing. Some nerve they got. As I am sulking in self pity, Rachel declares, “She is a Warrior Head Mom.”
Rachel revelation shocks my Parents to no extent, when they shout, “What?”
“Have you seen Veronica today? That’s all her” says Blake.
“The girl sure knows how to throw a punch” says mom with appreciation in her eyes.
“Oh and she also kind of stood up against Mason and indirectly told him to f**k off” adds my dear sister.
“She did not say that. LIAR” I narrow my eyes when I tell her this.
Everyone starts laughing, and now it was Dad who was addressing my mom, “We have to meet her honey. She sounds like she breaths fire.”
Rachel confirms their theory and adds, “Oh she so does, when she punched Veronica, my big brother went all Alpha on her ass and shouted, How dare you touch her. Do you know who she is?”
I was glaring daggers at her and guess what she did. She ignored me. Yes, my little sister ignored me. Partly because Alpha or Not, I’m her brother and she is not scared of me at all and partly because the story was as truthful as it was funny.
She continued, “And Guess what she said, she was like, firstly I don’t care even if she is a granddaughter of some shitty ass queen and secondly, I didn’t touch her, I punched her.”
“Talk about Sarcastic, Witty and a Kick Ass warrior all in one. She is going to be one hell of an addition to our pack, I see” this was Madison speaking, she is Tyler, my Warrior head’s mate, who herself is a Warrior.
Soon everyone was done with their dinner and went towards their respective bedrooms. The pain was no more there, which meant she was either sleeping or comforted. The thought of her being comforted by someone else made me furious, but I didn’t know that whether it was true or not. SO I let it slide and made my way upstairs.
On my way there, I saw Rachel who was on her phone doing something, that’s when it clicked. PHONE! I might not have her number, but Rachel might. I could just ask her for it. So I did the same when I approached her.
“Hey Rach, Do you have Bella’s number?” I asked her.
She smirked and replied, “Yes I do. But why does it concern you?”
She can be such a b***h at such times, soaking in bliss from my agony. I just gave her the puppy eyes look; I know it works all the time, so it has to work now as well.
She starts laughing and says, “It’s not going to work this time bro. Try something new. Come on surprise me.” Oh this woman. I know she is going to ask for something in exchange for the number. When we were kids, she used to do my work in exchange of a week’s dessert, my share.
I know this exchange is going to be something like that when I ask her, “What do you want?”
That Cheshire cat smile is back on her face, why do I feel I’m not going to like this? The moment she answer that question, I realize why I had a feeling that I’m not going to like it.
She says, “Promise me, we’ll go to our beach house, next to the coming weekend with Bella.”
“Are you out of your mind Rach, how can I promise on her behalf. She might be my mate, but I don’t control her decisions. She is her own person” I literally scream at her and what she does is, she smiles.
Is she going crazy?
“I’m proud of you bro. All grown up and mature. But you are still going to ask her. Whether she comes or not is her choice. Promise?” she says.
I nod and she extends her hand to take my phone. I give her my phone, to which she adds my mate’s number to it and returns back to her room.
Women are crazy, I tell you.
I save my mates number with the name LOVE, making way to my bed, sleeping with Hope of a better morning tomorrow.
