I groaned as I packed the last item of my clothes. I was ready. I was ready to start a new adventure.
I felt butterflies in my stomach from how nervous I was. I knew nobody, and it was a brand new country. I was moving to Canada.
I was going to miss my mom and dad so much, and I was going to miss my two brothers.
I was the youngest out of my brother's, and they were both working already.
I was nineteen years old. Well, I just turned nineteen this year.
I put my hand over my chest to feel my racing heart and I sighed.
"Sweetheart, are you ready?" My mom asked, looking at me and I nodded.
"Good because you're going to be late if we don't leave now" I nod and both my brothers take my bags downstairs.
I was going to study English, and get my degree.
I get up and take one last look at my room, and I walk downstairs.
I climb into my fathers truck, and my brothers climb in next to me.
My father climbed in the driver's seat, and my mom climbed in the passengers, and we drove off.
I huld my plane tickets, and passport close to me.
"You'll have a great time, you shouldn't stress" My older brother, Dentin said and I nodded. He was twenty four, and my other brother, Jackson was twenty two.
"You're going to have so much fun" My mother said, looking back at me smiling.
"Maybe fun, sure, but I'm nervous" I sigh.
After a couple minutes we arrived at the airport, and my brother's offloaded my bags, and carried it for me inside.
My mom came with me to check myself in, and once we were finished, we took a seat.
"Don't forget to call us whenever you can" My mom put her hands over mind and I smiled warmly at her.
"I will, I promise. I'm going to miss you all so much" I say and she smiles.
"We're going to miss you too sweetheart" She hugs me.
"Fight to Canada, please board the plane" The big speaker said and I took a deep breathe.
I got up and I hugged my family tightly.
"I love you all so much, take care of yourselves" I smile, and I walk to where all the people were going, and I climbed the steps, climbing into the plane.
I handed the lady my ticket, and she pointed to a seat at the back, next to the window, and I walked to it, and sat down.
People came and sat next to me and I put my seat belt on.
After a few minutes everybody was seated in the plane, and the doors closed.
"Good morning everybody. This is your pilot speaking. We are now going to start our twelve hour flight to Canada. Please turn off your cellphones, and stay seated, unless you need to use the bathrooms. Thank you" The speaker gets turned off and I look out the window.
"There is food avaliable to purchase, as well as drinks, please shout if you need anything" One of the dark haired air hostesses said, and walked to the back.
Twelve hour flight? I might as well just sleep as much as I can because I think I'll be too nervous to sleep that side, and I don't want to be affected too much by jet lag.
I took a deep breathe and watched outside as the plane took off.
I scratched in my small handbag, and took out my sleeping tablets, and I took one, swallowing it.
I leaned my head against the seat, and I eventually fell asleep.
I woke up feeling groggy and I rubbed my eyes.
How long did I sleep for?
I looked at the time. It read 15:49. I fell asleep at 8, so I slept for a really long time.
I yawned, and stared outside the plane window, watching the fluffy, cotton candy clouds and the land beneath us.
Before I applied for this university, I was unsure whether I was going to be accepted or not. This university is one of the best, maybe even the best. It is however really old, it's been said to be over hundreds of years old, and that's the dorm rooms included.
Apparently not a lot of kids are staying in the dorm rooms because they either live nearby or something, but I will be staying on campus, I've even booked my dorm room already.
After a couple of hours, the plane landed. It was already past nine at night.
I climbed out the plane and went and fetched my bags.
It was so cold here.
I ordered a Uber, and it eventually arrived.
The weather was honestly so different from what I was use to. It was cold and miserable.
"Ms Stone?" The guy opened the car window and I nodded, and climbed into the back seat.
"Hi, please just take me to Blackwood Orchard university" I say and he nods, closing his window.
"You new here?"
"I am. I just arrived" I smiled.
"Blackwood university huh?"
"Yeah" I smiled and he nodded.
The car contunied driving for a while, and luckily the heater was on, it was freezing.
I turned my phone on and messaged my mom.
Me:
Just landed, on my way to university. Miss you.
She's probably sleeping.
I put my phone in my pocket and after a while, two big black gates opened, and we drove down a alleyway with trees.
Finally, in front of me was a huge old building. It looked like a castle.
"Wow.." I say.
"This is your dorm rooms. University is in the back.
"Thank you" I took out some money and I sighed.
"I haven't exchanged it yet" I say, and sigh.
"It's no problem miss" He takes the money and I smile.
"Thank you, have a great night" I climb out and take my bags, and walk towards the old building. I walk in the front door and see a lady sitting by the desk.
"Hi.." I smile awkwardly and she types something into her computer.
"You must be Skye Stone?" She asks, staring at me and I nod.
"I am. I didn't know someone would be working so late" I say nervously.
"Yes well, it is our job to make sure all the students check in, and we get paid overtime"
"Right.. sorry" I smile.
"Room number 46. Go upstairs, go to your right, walk right down the passage, and you'll see your room" She hands me a key.
"Thank you. Goodnight" I take the key and walk up the stairs.
Everything was so old about the place. The stairs were old, the school was so cold and seemed so dead. The lights were dim, and I would of sworn that it would of been from a horror movie.
I took a right and walked down the hallway, until I reached room 46. I put the key in the lock, and unlocked it, going inside.
I immediately put the light on and looked around. The bed was queen sized, and I was thankful for that. There was a small room joined in that was obviously the bathroom.
All I could think about now was sleeping.
I took out my phone and sent my mom another message, so when she wakes up, she doesn't freak out.
Me:
Just arrived at the dorms, I'm in my room and I'm going to bed. Sleep well. Love you.
I put my phone on the nightstand, and connected my charger into the wall, and plugged my phone in.
I got dressed into my pj's, and I climbed into the bed.
There were lots of blankets and I cuddled up to it.
I closed my eyes, and fell asleep feeling tired.
The next morning I woke up with my phones alarm going off. I switched it off, today was my day to explore the campus.
I got out of bed and put on a pair of skinny jeans, a pair of sneakers, a shirt, and a leather jacket, and I zipped the leather jacket up.
I brushed my teeth and brushed my hair, and left it loose, and I sprayed perfume on.
I put my phone in my pocket and I walked downstairs. I saw a couple of people who were obviously all students with books in their hands all leave to go outside.
Before I walked through the door, I heard my name being called, and I looked behind me to see the reception lady was holding her hand out for me, so I walked to her.
"Here's a list with directions to help you get to your classes, and the times and when the classes starts are on the other page. You officaly start today" She hands me the two pieces of paper and I smile.
"Thank you" I take it and I jog back upstairs, getting my notebook and pen. I wasn't sure when I was going to start. I locked my dorm room and went back downstairs, and excited the building.
I could see so much better now that it was light outside.
I walked towards the back of the building, and in a couple of meters, around the corner, I could see a really huge building. It also looked like a castle. If I didn't know any better, it would be a castle.
Most students were heading towards the building all together, talking and socializing. I was never really good with that.
I walked into the building, and took my piece of paper out.
I had maths, and then I had English.
It was stupid that I had to take a few maths classes even though I was majoring in English.
I sighed and looked at the map, seeing that maths wasn't so far away.
I followed the directions to the math class, and after a while I reached the room. I walked inside and walked down the couple stairs in the middle, and I took a seat.
It was such a big room.
"Morning students. For those that have been in this university, know who I am, for those that don't, my name is Mr Reed. I will be your maths lecturer for the year, and I'm one of those nicer lectures. I'm here to see my students pass in maths as best as they can. Right? Any questions? No? If you enter my class, I expect you to have a pen and a notebook, right, let's begin" Mr Reed contunied teaching, and I felt bad because he was so nice, and I didn't even like maths. I was more looking forward to English.
Mr Reed explained some geometry, and wrote down a couple of equations on the board, and I wrote them down. Not that I'll ever need to use it.
The rest of the kids in the classroom were not very focused.
"I swear he's so hot" This girl a couple of seats away from he said to her friend, and they started to giggle.
"No ways! Mr Phoenix is literally a god" The other girl said.
"Okay fine, they're both so sexy, but Mr Phoenix is a pantie dropper" She said and giggled, and they both nodded.
Alright then. I mean, Mr Reed wasn't ugly, but he wasn't my type.
I ignored their stupid little giggles and gossip for the rest of the lesson, and once it was finished, I walked down the remaining stairs to the teacher.
I walked on his teaching stage and he looked at me.
"Good morning sir-" I smiled slightly and he smiled.
"Good morning. You must be our new student, Miss Stone?" He asked, fiddling with his books.
"That's right. I'm obviously really new here, and I'm not so sure on how things work.. but I'm majoring in English. How many maths classes am I supposed to take?" I ask nervously, watching him.
"Majoring in English? You should be taking most of your classes by Mr Phoenix, and you should go tell him what you just told me, so he can set a timetable for you based off of the thing you're studying" He says and I nod.
"Thank you sir" I smile, and start walking up the stairs, looking at the piece of paper, trying to figure out where English is.
"Miss Stone, I can take you there since I'm on my way to him anyway" He catches up to me and we walk to English class.
I glanced at Mr Reed. He must be in his middle twenties. He has brown hair, and green eyes. He was tall, and he was fit.
He definitely wasn't bad looking.
We walked down the corridor, and took a turn down another passage, and we walked down, and he opened a door for me.
"Thank you sir" I smile and walk inside. He walked behind me, and I walked down the stairs to take a seat in the front since my eyes weren't the greatest, and I didn't have my glasses with me.
Mr Reed walked onto the stage, and he put something down on a pile of books, and that's when I heard footsteps behind me, as if someone was walking down the stairs, and oh, someone was walking down the stairs.
He was literally gorgeous. He was tall, and he was dressed in a dark black suit. As he walked past me, I could smell him. He smelt of rich cologne.
He lent his hands out to Mr Reed, and he shook it. He had a tattoo on his hand, and he was wearing some rings as well.
His face? He was molded to perfection. I don't think I've ever seen someone so gorgeous as him. He was pale. He didn't look real. How could someone be so stunning?
Just staring at him, made me blush.
His hair was jet black, and it was slightly messy.
"Miss Stone, come up here quickly" Mr Reed asked and I gulped.
Now to remain calm.
I walked to them, and I could feel his eyes on me, it's as if it was burning holes through my soul.
I walked next to Mr Reed, and looked up at him.
"Tell Mr Phoenix what you told me"
"O-ohkay. Uhm good morning sir" I looked up at him. And I mean it when I say I looked up. He was really tall, and he had blazing blue eyes.
"Good morning" He said calmly and I almost melted there and then because his voice was so seductive.
"So- I'm new here sir.. and I'm majoring in English.. and I'm not so sure what subjects I'm supposed to take" I say.
Was that a small smirk on his lips? Is it so obvious that I'm a puddle right now?
"I see. I'll make a timetable for you, and I'll have it printed out, and you can come fetch it by me tomorrow"
"Thank you sir" I turn around and walk off, and sit down back by my seat, feeling my face that was obviously blood red.
Mr Reed walked off, and I waited for the other students to arrive while I sat down and watched him.
He connected his laptop to the projector screen, and he made a presentation.
I watched him slowly.
The kids started to come into the room, and he glanced at me, and I looked away. I need to stop staring at him.
"Morning sir!" Another girl walked up to him and I noticed what she was wearing.
A short little dress, and her t**s were practically all out.
"Morning Tanya, please take a seat" He barely even looked at her, and he was cold and emotionless towards her.
I don't know why, but it made me happy.
I took out my notebook, and I took out a pen.
"Morning class. For those of you that don't know, I'm Mr Phoenix. I'm your English lecturer. We'll be covering the topic, Romeo and Juliet this semester, and the depth of it. I expect you all to pay attention, and listen. You should all have notebooks, and a pen with you" He says blandly. He had no emotional at all. Not from when it was just me, him and Mr Reed.
He glanced around the room and his eyes landed on me, and I looked down, avoiding his eyes, tingles started rising up my spine.
He was intimidating alright.
I took a deep breathe.
"Tell me about Romeo and Juliet. Who were they?" He asked, looking around the room.
"Two lovers?" One guy said and Mr Phoenix hummed.
"More detail. I need depth" He sighed.
I put up my hand, and he looked at me.
"Yes, Ms Stone? Can you atleast tell me who they are?" He asked, impatient.
"Romeo and Juliet were two star crossed lovers. They were children of two families, the Montagues and the Capulets" I say softly and he nods, examining me.
"Correct. Can anybody tell me what are star crossed lovers?" He looks around the room, and his eyes land on me again, and I feel goosebumps arrive on my skin.
"Star crossed lovers mean lovers that can't really be together.. like the stars are working against their relationship"
"Mm good. I'm impressed. Seems like only one person in my class knows what's going on" He looks at the rest of the class and rolls his eyes.
"Well done Ms Stone" He looks at me, unreadable, and I blush.
"Come fetch your notes" He sits down at his desk, his eyes back on his laptop.
We all get up, and I take a page. As I was about to leave he clears his throat, and I look back at him.
"Have you read the book Romeo and Juliet?" He asks me and I nod.
"I have. I like reading"
"And what books do you like reading?" He asks me, looking down at me.
I felt so small compared to him.
"Romance, sir" I say softly and he nods, handing me a piece of paper.
"Your timetable. You'll be spending most of your time with me" I take the paper, accidently touching his hand which was ice cold, and I felt shivers run down my spine.
His stare was intense and unreadable.
"T-thank you sir" I say softly, and he nods, looking away.
I awkwardly walk out and my heart was racing.
Who was this guy?
