Chapter 3

Alisson’s POV

My eyes raise on their own accord in surprise.

‘Hmm, this is interesting, someone who does not leave a chance to mock me and always makes me feel unimportant he sure dares to look more jealous than he should be.”

I get up and Nathan follows suit. We both stand there awkwardly as one by one leave the living area. Some gave us a shake of head and some of them left to mind their work.

“If you are done fooling around, get back to training,” says Dad and leaves.

After that, Nathan and I look at each other and we grin that no one can separate us by their petty talks or taunts. My friendship with Nathan is more valuable than any of their so-called taunts who do not understand that he is family which I never had. Even though the whole pack and my parents were there they always made me feel unwanted in my very own pack.

“If looks could kill I would be dead by now,” says Nathan close to my ear with a mischievous smirk. I nudged him in the stomach so that he could stop doing what he was doing.

“If you would stop wasting your time and concentrate on training the pack that would be much better,” says Connor with a hard edge to his voice.

Raising a brow at that, “I don’t think my training is getting affected as it's already past lunchtime. And the training was done long back”

“Come Nathan let's go. I need a run” With that said I sprint out of the pack house and into the woods. Soon I was running in my wild form in the woods with Nathan beside me. Our paws were making a whooshing sound as we both moved past the green forest and tall trees. The birds were chirping far above the trees. After a while, we both reach the clearing where a beautiful creek is present.

After drinking the creek water, we both relax and watch the water follow. Because after this week, the next few days I am going to be always busy as I will be planning the birthday party for Aliza. I don’t know what Nathan has planned for me but I would be happy with anything that he gives me.

Connor’s POV

My eyes burn in silent jealousy as I watch my girlfriend’s sister Alisson fooling around with Nathan.

Nathan is my best friend. He is also Alisson's best friend, something which I don't like. I hate their close relationship and friendship. I don’t know why I do that when I already have a girlfriend, I cannot even understand this attraction that I feel towards her. It's like my wolf feels some kind of attachment towards her which is still a mystery to me.

I come out of my thinking when Aliza snaps her fingers in front of me.

“Where are you lost my dear?” she asks. Her amber eyes show the love she has for me. Her gorgeous face makes me feel that I have one of the most good-looking girls in my pack as my girlfriend.

“Nothing hon. Come let’s have lunch” With that we both walk towards the dining area. Once seated I asked her “So babe, what would you like for your birthday?” he asked.

“Well I would like to have anything that you would give me,” she says with a smile. I smile back. That’s what I like about her. Her innocence is something that I was attracted to for the first time. She never demands anything or asks me anything.

“Okay babe” I have something in my mind that might make her extremely happy.

“So, what are your plans for the rest of the day?” I ask her.

“Nothing. Can we watch movies?” she gives me a lazy smile. A smile which I very well knew.

“Sure” I grin back. I leaned closer to her when our moment was disturbed by someone entering the kitchen. Once done with our lunch we head to the Alpha floor where Aliza has her room. Where we can have a little bit of privacy.

We enter her room and I relax on the bed as Aliza puts on the movie ‘The Notebook’. I stifle a groan because this is something, I don’t like to watch but as this movie is Aliza’s favorite, what choice do I have?

She comes and settles beside me and places her head on my shoulder. I was distracted for a second by her smell. My instincts are to mark her but I don’t know what stops me. Maybe it is my wolf who wants to wait for a mate which I am least interested in.

A mate bond is something that I don’t believe in. I don’t want to be bonded with someone who is paired by the moon goddess.

I wanted someone who would like me for me and not for my position as the vampire king or the Alpha of the pack. Also, I wanted someone good-looking. What if the moon goddess had decided to pair me with an ugly-looking mate? I shudder inwardly thinking about it. Thank god I did not wait for the time when I will find my mate because I found one myself who is far more good-looking and beautiful than anyone I know. Her soft features and angelic look are what make me pull towards her on my own.

The movie was forgotten as we both were engaged in a heated kiss. The kiss was always mind-blowing, but it always felt empty because my wolf was not in it. This is a constant battle I face with my wolf who shuts himself off when I do something like this. Aliza and I have been in a relationship since the past year and she wants to take that one step closer in making our bond strong.

That is something even I want to do. But I don’t know if something is holding me back maybe now is not the right time.

Moving back, I control my breathing and peck her on the lips “We should stop here babe” With that said I don’t give her a chance to argue and tuck her in my arms so that we can both watch the movie.
