I quickly gain control of my body, that was not meant to happen, but somehow, my siren appeared before time, and is heartbroken, we're heartbroken.
I turn blindly towards the corridor as I hear shouts and cursing behind me, but I pay no mind as I sprint blindly towards where I came from.
" Please wait . . ." Talon calls desperately behind me, but that seems to spur me on the more.
"Can you just give me the . . ."
"NO" I boomed as I continue running.
I have missed my way, I know I have, but I would rather go the wrong way than go back to him.
"Please . . ." he tries again, I can sense he's almost catching up with me, darn those long legs, but I don't want to see his face, not now, not ever, I'm not even sure why I was hung up on him in the first place.
I was so stupid to belief that my adoptive family would want to see me happy for once, now I know better.
Blinded by my tears, not really looking at where I'm headed, I run into a wall . . or so I thought, until a hand reaches out to steady me.
"Good gracious child, why are you running around the Alpha's cove?" I hear my mom's sickly sweet voice behind the man holding me.
I look up into the most beautiful sky blue eyes I have ever seen, I gasp, as I recognize the face of one of the royal triplets, I have never met them personally, but I have seen them on magazines, but those pictures don't do them justice, he is so handsome that I temporarily forget my plight.
Before I can untangle myself from him, I heard.
"MINE"
A half naked, angry looking Talon is staring daggers at us.
"Sweetness, I don't even know why you're running after her, she's not even worth . . ." An almost out of breathe Ruby says as she catches up with Talon, but stops mid sentence, her eyes bulging as she sees the prince, she quickly let's go of Talon's hand she had grabbed earlier.
"Can we take this to my office?" The Alpha says, scowling at his son as he leads us back the way they had come.
"What the hell is going on here" the prince boomed immediately the door was closed, not leaving my side for a second. Talon looked as if he swallowed a frog while Ruby looked as if she wanted the floor to open up and swallow her, our parents and the Alpha just had curious stares, and I bluntly refuse to leave the Prince's side.
The office, though big enough to contain all of us was becoming very uncomfortable with the tension.
" Care to explain?" the prince turned towards me with a soft look.
" I . . I . I . .was . . ."
" ofcourse my prince, she was just at the wrong place at the wrong time, this is just a big misunderstanding." my mom cut me off, explaining the situation away.
" if I may, Mrs Preston, I believe you and I were in a meeting together, we were no where near them to know what transpired, do allow them to speak." the unimpressed prince spoke in an authoritative voice, making mom to cower, it was such a sight because she had always seemed invincible, but right now, someone just put her in her place and it was great to see.
Talon cleared his throat, looking at me pleadingly as he spoke.
" Manny just caught me . . uhm . . us ," gesturing towards Ruby "in a compromising situation and it turns out that she . . she's my mate." he said the last part quietly as he hung his head.
The prince frowned as he looked between us, then his eyes stayed on me.
"But how do you know?, it seems she is underage?" he said thoughtfully.
" I will be 18 tomorrow, but my siren came out when we saw them together." I managed to croak out.
" Oh come on, it's not as if you were meant to be in the Alpha's cove in the first place and besides, they may have been discussing some . . . political issues which is beyond your comprehension and you are here acting out." My dad spat my way, but his words may have just broken a dam.
Suddenly,
I was tired of being talked down on
I was tired of years of covering up for their daughter
I was tired of how guilty they made me feel
I was tired of not being good enough for them.
I was tired of everything they put me through
I was just tired.
Period.
So I screamed
" I am not daft, I only came to see the man I am to be engaged to tomorrow, only to find him balls deep inside my so called Sister, I wonder if that is how political issues are discussed." I spat angrily at my parents, my Mom was shocked, but my Dad was looking at me with vengeance for daring to expose his darling daughter, I didn't care though as I continued.
" I'm tired of you always siding with your daughter over me, if you didn't want to keep me, why didn't you just let someone else take me in or just let me die." I exploded.
"Is this how you pay us back for all that we've done for you?" dad gritted through his teeth.
"Manny" mom exclaimed, but didn't make a move towards me, it seemed she was conflicted towards comforting her daughter who has been quiet so far or me.
Talon took a step towards me but I held out my hands, the Alpha seemed to be short of words, so I addressed Talon.
"I know you don't want me . . ." I said in a broken voice, tears were streaming down my cheeks, but I didn't care, he wanted to say something but I continued.
" . . . and I know you love Ruby . . ." he looked shocked. " . . . I heard both of you, so I'm . . ."
" Wait, did you say Ruby?" The prince cut me off, but his eyes looking at the red head who has been too mute, which is so unlike her and all of a sudden, I realize my mistake, dad was looking murderously at me, mom looked confused, probably not knowing how to salvage the situation as always, Alpha Shawn just shook his head.
"I . . I . . " I stuttered
" The Ruby me and my brothers are meant to get married to?
The Ruby you just demanded power over half of the kingdom for?
The Ruby you claim is prim and proper?"
He was visibly angry at my parents and his voice carried over the entire cove, shaking it in it's wake.
" You . ." dad growled at me, " I'll kill you for this, " he launched towards me, I quickly opened the door and ran outside, not minding the commotion in the Alpha's office, not mining the fact that someone was shouting my name.
I ran blindly, following a servant who had just turned a corner, it led me thankfully to the outer court, I quickly slipped through into the ocean bed, I stripped my pink dress and folded it, holding onto it with my mouth, my blue hair acted as a perfect camouflage as I made my escape.
I knew I could not go back home because the Prestons will definitely skin me alive, but I needed somewhere to stay.
Seeing as I didn't have much friends, I decided to swim upwards above water, I've never been out there before, but hopefully my luck may be better out there than down here.
Immediately my head surfaced, I breathe in air through my nostrils for the very first time. It was so refreshing and different, I looked around and saw land towards the east.
I may not have been on land before, but I have read about it and have always been intrigued. I hold my breathe and go below water, checking to make sure I'm not being followed, I swim towards the land, hoping for the best.
