I look over at Ava, exhaustion taking over my body. I need to know. I keep telling myself. “Archie” “Dearest?” “Take out a black stone” he takes one out and gives it to me. “I’ll be back” I tell him, before I put it in my mouth he takes it away “You’re not going alone” he says “I need to go, now.” “You’re not f*****g going alone” “Then come with me” I yell at him, he takes out one more and positions it between his teeth. “Think about my room and you’ll go there” I tell him and I put the stone in my mouth.
