My phone was still ringing persistently.
If I didn't answer it, it would make both Flora and Gail suspicious.
Thinking of this, I picked up my phone and said, "I just happen to be going to the bathroom."
So I sat on the toilet, opened the door and made sure Flora wasn't following, and then pressed the answer button.
"What are you doing? Why haven't you answered the phone?" Gail complained over the phone.
"Oh, I went to the bathroom just now and didn't hear the phone. What's wrong with you calling?" I explained in a low voice.
"Don't you know what day it is today?" Gail asked.
"What day? Your birthday is next month." I played dumb.
"It's Valentine's Day today. I'm calling you just to say Happy Valentine's Day to you. I love you." Gail's voice was very coquettish
