Celeste's POV
I put a backpack together. I planned on shifting so I needed something to keep my clothes in. Also, some water and energy bars. I added a coat too. I was excited, but scared sh*tless. I am going to meet my birth parents. I started to wonder if what Isaac said was true. Did they really hide me, because I was in danger? I shouldn't have blown up at him. Not only did I miss him, my heart feels like it wants to stop beating, on top of that guilt. A lot of guilt. I'll see if I can get answers from Alpha and Luna. I don't know what to call them.
I left at nine thirty, it didn't take too long to get to 'our' spot. I locked up my Jeep and walked into the woods. I stopped, listened, and sniffed. Nothing. I secretly hoped my knight would be close by. I stripped and placed my clothes in the backpack. I shifted in no time at all. I grabbed my pack in between my teeth and took off for the pond. I will wait there. I'm sure they could find me. I waited around in wolf form and spoke with Ayira.
"This is so exciting. Do you think they will like me?" I was scared and Ayira was always there by my side, well in my head.
"They are your parents. I'm sure they love you. I hate to bring this up now, but you shouldn't have yelled at Isaac like that. I believe him. He wouldn't hurt you on purpose." I knew she was right. After I talk to my parents, I'll call him.
"I know I messed up. I can fix it."
"You aren't just feeling your pain, you're feeling his too. You told him to leave and not come back. What if he doesn't come back?"
"He will. He said he wouldn't leave me."
"Celeste, you made him leave. He didn't leave of his own free will."
"F*CK. I'm such an i***t. I need to shift back, they should be here soon." I was back in human form within seconds. Dressing quickly, I was glad I brought extra clothes and a jacket. It's cold.
I didn't have to wait very long. I was staring at the frozen pond when I heard noise behind me. I turned to see two wolves stalking towards me. I took a few steps back and tripped over a boulder. They were real and in front of me. The jet black wolf and the fiery red wolf with the aquamarine eyes. I've been dreaming of my parents. Suddenly they split up, running towards the trees.
I didn't know which way to look first. I chose my mother. Her auburn hair and emerald green eyes brought tears to my eyes. I looked over at my father and saw his light brown hair and gray eyes. My mother reached me first and helped me to my feet. I just stared at her. I slammed into her, giving her the tightest hug. I needed to make sure she was real.
"It was real. You guys are real." She pulled away to look at me.
"Celeste, my favorite Christmas present. Look at you. You are gorgeous. Happy Birthday." My mother had nothing but love for me. I could feel it.
"Thank you."
"Princess, what was real?" I wondered if that was his nickname for me.
"Um. Well, since I was a little girl I have had dreams of a woman with auburn hair and emerald green eyes and a man with light brown hair and gray eyes. I could never see the rest of the features. Then the black and white wolf. I even said 'hi doggie' to a random man in a restaurant. Then I dreamt of your wolves. Exactly what you look like." They just looked at each other. I knew I was rambling, but I couldn't help it.
"We are so happy Isaac has taken care of you." My mother said with a huge smile. A pang of guilt hit me. Isaac has taken care of me, hasn't he?
"Sweetheart, your mother and I are sorry for the loss of your parents. We would have loved to have met them."
"That would've been nice. I have so many questions. I don't know what to ask first. I don't know how much time you have. I don't want to waste it."
"Don't worry about time. We need to make up for time lost. Ask anything you want." My father seemed like a stern man, but loving.
"Isaac mentioned that I was in danger before I was born. What was he talking about?"
I couldn't believe people thought I was some prophetic child and would have massive power. My mother was kidnapped while she was pregnant with me. As she was escaping, my father found her, but there were too many to fight off. That's when Isaac showed up and saved them.
"We consider Isaac to be our son. When he came and told us he was mated to you, I was overjoyed. He was terrified of what we thought. He was willing to reject you if we didn't approve. You and Isaac always shared a special bond, even while you were still inside of me. He named you actually." My mother was beaming as she thought of Isaac. He named me? Wow. There is so much I don't know about him.
"Princess, Isaac has kept everything about you secret. I had to keep a few things from your mother, but here you are safe and well taken care of. We owe Isaac everything for helping us." My father praised him too.
"Your wolf is beautiful." Thankfully, my mother broke the awkward silence.
"Thank you. Isaac said I looked like I was a pure white wolf that someone had splashed black paint on." I heard his voice in my head as I spoke those words.
"That's funny, since he's the reverse." My father chuckled.
"What do you mean?" I've never seen Isaac's wolf.
"Isaac, didn't shift with you?" I shook my head no.
"Celeste, Isaac looks like he was a pure black wolf that had white paint thrown on him."
"He never shifted with me. Always told me it was for my protection." I frowned, saddened by the thought he didn't want to shift with me. My mother pulled me into a hug. I needed that.
"You have loved him for a long time, haven't you?" I shook my head and started crying. How did she know?
"I messed up. I yelled at him for keeping secrets from me. I told him to leave my house and never come back."
"He'll come back. I'm sure he knows you were just upset." My father came and squished me between him and my mother. Maggie and Max would do the same thing. Family squishes, my mom called it.
"Do you need anything? I'm going to start working on bringing you home. It may take some time, but I will get it done." They both wanted me to be with them. It was a relief and I had a smaller feeling of loneliness.
"My adoptive parents left me the house, and enough money that I will never have to work a day in my life. I have Isaac and his team too. Can we text and talk on the phone if we can't see each other?" I needed some sort of constant communication with them.
"Absolutely, we are not letting you go now." He spoke as he softly grabbed my chin, lifting it so I was looking at him. My father was serious. I know he meant what he said.
We stayed in another embrace for a while. I didn't want to let go, but I wanted to see if Isaac was back yet. We exchanged numbers and my parents shifted. They came to me and it was Deja Vu. I reached for my mother and she was as soft as she felt in my dream. My father was a little rougher, but still soft. I longed to go with them, but I hoped I'd be there soon.
"Goodbye, mom and dad. I love you. Thank you." They nuzzled me and took off for their home, our home.
I was saddened to see that Isaac's truck was not parked outside my house. As I walked into my house his scent was still there, it wasn't as strong, but it still calmed and saddened me at the same time. I was startled when I saw Matt and Derrick sitting on my couch.
"Is he coming back?" I tried to keep the emotion out of my voice.
"We don't know. Mikey is running the company right now. Isaac sent out an email. He had things to take care of and didn't know when and if he would be back." Matt was blunt with his answer.
"What do you mean 'if'?" That sounded like there was a possibility that he wasn't coming back to be with me. I hoped he wasn't out there doing something stupid if he was angry at how today went.
"I don't know. That's what he wrote. Usually, when he hands the place over to Mikey, it's something dangerous."
"Jeez Matt, you could've put it another way. Celeste, we are here to look after you while he is gone. Okay? Same guys as before."
"Okay. Thank you." I went upstairs to my room. I didn't want to hear anymore. What would he be doing that was dangerous? Suddenly, I didn't want to be in my room. All the yelling at him came back.
Celeste
I'm sorry. My parents told me an edited version. I understand why you kept everything a secret. I didn't really mean it when I told you not to come back. Isaac, I love you. I have since I was fourteen.Come back to me. I'm lost without you. It hurts so badly. Please.
It's been two weeks and he hasn't responded. My mother and father told me to give him time. I'm back at school and I'm trying to finish early. I know I can and they are willing to let me after my parents' death.
