  Melanie's PoV   The howl of the wind outside Morgan's cabin is a feral thing, clawing at the wooden walls with icy fingers, the noise making me anxious in these unfamiliar surroundings.   Clearly Dingus was unbothered by it, having curled himself into a tight, furry ball near the hearth and now snoring softly, oblivious or at the very least uncaring to the snowstorm outside the cabin.   "Why did you bring my parents back?" I asked suddenly, wanting to somehow break the tense silence between us despite his obvious reluctance to talk, "And their dog…why did you take him in when you could have dropped him at the shelter?"
