Chapter 6

308 Words
Our last stop at the spa was hair and makeup. Troy got his already short locks trimmed a bit and Jasmine got an extremely dramatic makeover. I'm talking blue eyeshadow and bright red lipstick dramatic. The only thing she didn't touch up was her dyed blonde hair, which coincidentally is the only thing that needed fixed. Now it's my turn to sit in the chair, but I do so with my eyes wide in fear as I listen to Jasmine talk to the barber. "Maybe you could give her extensions? Long ones. Eyelash extensions too, the big fake ones! Then the makeup could be a je-" "Stop it Jasmine. You're scaring her. We'll wait by the front Tess, do whatever you want and come when you're ready." I smile and look in the mirror skeptically. The blonde waves look so real, but they were actually a requirement for a job I got hired to do. The man wanted a blonde to make his ex jealous at his little sisters quincenera. He paid for it, and it's been on me for at least a week and a half. Maybe I should go back to my old basic brown? I liked it better and it suited my button nose and wide eyes more than the pale blonde. After telling the barber, he sets to work and within an hour, I'm sent back to the front with a hairstyle much more suited for me. "Wow Tess! You look very beautiful!" I thank Troy and ignore the seemingly always scowling Jasmine. I don't think she likes me. That'll make it harder to land this job. On the ride back home, Troy tries to think of other things we could do to bond for the rest of the week before they make their decision. This is going to be a very stressful week.
