Months in: 5 1/2
"Finally," I sigh as Troy puts an arm around my shoulder.
It's taken a full month to set up the baby's room, but that's partially my fault.
The night we were supposed to start, I had opened a can of paint. Apparently, that's a bad
decision for a pregnant woman.
I had thrown up all over the carpet at the smell of the foul fumes.
Troy had tried cleaning the carpet, but ended up having to bring in professional’s due to the
discolored stain on the carpet. I had apologized profusely, but he had assured me it was okay.
It took a week to get the men in and the stain out. In turn, it took three whole days for Troy to
paint the baby's room due to juggling work, me, Jasmine, and everything else.
Then we had to wait another week for all the paint fumes to die out so that I could work in it.
Now, we had everything set up in a jungle theme. The walls were a pastel green and one of the
four walls was covered in jungle tree stickers and exotic animals. We ended up building a cute
little cage with the word ZOO painted on top. All thirty of the recently bought stuffed creatures
were put inside and the rocking chair was right next to it. The crib was set up, as was the
changing table and everything looked simply perfect.
"It worked out well," Troy compliments as the theme had been my idea.
"It did. This baby is going to love the room and I will sleep jealously in the next room over
knowing this child has my dream decorations," I say only half-jokingly.
Troy chuckles and looks down at me with a wide grin.
"You'll be a great mother."
My face freezes for a minute and I wonder if he knows what he sa-
My entire body tenses as his lips land on mine suddenly and I blink, u sure of what to do. It's
only when Troy takes my jaw in his hand and deepens the kiss that my eyes flutter closed.
Wow.
An actual real kiss.
I lift my own hand to run my fingers through Troy's dark hair before I jerk away in surprise.
What am I doing!
Despite looking in absolute confusion to the man before me, I still feel my stomach fluttering
with butterflies. It was just so...
Wait.
Wait!
Those aren't butterflies!
Troy shakes his head and it's clear he's about to apologize, but I cut him off quickly.
"I think the baby just kicked!"
