Chapter 18 The village by night was really charming, the moon reflecting off the cobblestones. Every garden gate was flanked by a pair of electric lights, bright enough to show the way in but not so bright that they interfered with the night sky. I supposed muggings weren't a worry here. And yet the warmth and cheeriness that radiated from the windows of the homes around me didn't reach my heart. I felt oddly detached from it, like it was water, and I was wearing full-body rain gear. "Ingrid? Are you doing all right?" Kara asked. I looked up to see the three of them had already reached the village square, but I was lagging behind. "I thought we'd find Roarr by now," I said. "It feels like we should have." "He was moving slowly when I saw him, but that doesn't mean he didn't pick up th
