Chapter 5

Calysta reached home and got down from the car and went to the mausoleum directly without coming into the house. Nina was waiting on the doorstep and saw her on the porch and asked her,” Mistress, why did you concern us so much going out at this time? We were so worried. Have you decided yet what to do with the lawyer?” “Yes Nina…I know absolutely what I am supposed to do with this man. He is really a wicked person who has tried his best to ruin my father and his finances through his life but his misfortune that my father had no faith in him. Now tell me something, do we still have all those things which my father used to breed as these weird torture machines?” asked Calysta as she remembered that she could hear the cries of the men at the dead of the night. The ones who were begging for mercy and also the ones who were defiant enough and asked for death. But all of them screamed. There was no way for her to go down and tell her father to stop. She knew that he was nothing more than a monster and the only thing she could do was to play. Drowning the screams of the dying men sometimes weirdly she felt like she had seen all of this before. But she did not want to recall her childhood days in this home any longer. Now was the time to be tough and also to be blood thirsty enough to torture and kill a man for his secrets. But was she really up for doing that. “I would not be the person to know anything about that Mistress….” Said Nina and Calysta raised a brow at her. “Then who would be that person that would be able to know about all the things and the creatures that my father used to breed? I am pretty sure that he would not have done off with them so soon? I mean, he was not expecting to die, was he now? No, so we should be knowing that what has exactly happened with them!!” said Calysta and her voice and ire both were rising at a fast pace. “That is not what I meant to say Mistress. Those are the creatures which were of the darkness and not light. And there is a person who has not seen the light of day as well since she was born. She is the one who takes care of them. I shall ask Frederick to take you to her. But Mistress…” said Nina and Calysta turned towards her again. “Yes Nina…is there something that you need to tell me?” asked Calysta as she could feel the hesitation and the fear coming off her in waves. “Mistress you need to know something about this woman…” said Nina as Frederick came to the place as well. And Nina looked up at Frederick and sighed in relief. “Frederick, Mistress wants to visit the Dark Chambers and I was just telling her about the Keeper of the Chambers. I am not really sure that it is a good idea, I think it will be better if you are the one telling her otherwise because I am not very sure what I am going to say to her at all,” said Nina as she rushed towards the house. Frederick was at a loss for words because on the first hand he did not think that Calysta would be ever aware of something which was present in their house. “Mistress, I am really sorry for her behavior but you know that it is not wrong for her to be scared. Everyone loses their composure the first time they visit the dark chambers. And I am not sure if this is something you would like to see or not,” said Frederick who probably stuttered for the first time in his life in front of her. Calysta did not understand what were they so scared about. “Is it the person who is the Keeper of the Dark Chambers like you said that is who scares you? I mean, I know Freddie that I should be scared for my life when I am here in this house which I have hated since my childhood but trust me, today I am not feeling scared, sad or anything. There is only this weird curiosity which is asking to be satisfied and I know that I am going to take care of that one way or the other,” said Calysta as Frederick looked at her face in growing horror. There was nothing familiar about this little girl, well she did not seem to be a little girl any longer. Calysta was the Mistress of the Manor and she was acting like one when he had thought that she would be again wishing to run away as soon as possible. But she seemed to be doing far from that. “Mistress it is not something that is going to make you happy or satisfy your thirst for knowledge. You wish to be taken there and I shall do so. But first you must know something,” said Frederick as he paused for the words to have their desired effect on her. “Yes Freddie…go on…” said Calysta as she crossed her arms over her breasts. “Mistress the Dark Chambers in this manor were created by your mother, our earlier Mistress. Not by your Father. And he had never even stepped inside that vile place in his entire life. He was extremely scared of anything and everything that went on down there. The truth is, this manor was not made or built by your father but rather your mother’s ancestors. They did not have any male heir which is the reason your father was forced to take up the name of your mother,” said Frederick and Calysta gaped at him. “What in the name of seven heavens are you speaking about Freddie? How is this even possible? But I knew that he used to torture my mother, she would not see me for days even because she was beaten up by him. He was an absolute monster Freddie…” screamed Calysta as the pain in her voice shook everything around them. The vibrations of the scream were so forceful that the ground beneath their feet started shaking like anything. “I urge you Mistress…I plead…Please calm down….please …in the name of Zeus, for the love of Poseidon please calm down…” cried out Frederick as Calysta looked at Freddie who was almost scared out of his wits. She could hear the sounds of screams and shouting and shrieks from inside the house and she had a slight feeling at the back of her mind that she was the reason for this calamity. And the very fact that she could do something of this sort calmed her down immensely. And just as she was calm again, the vibrations stopped. Frederick almost cried out with relief. “You are correct Mistress. My master, who had brought me here with him when he came from England was a true monster in every sense. But he was a very scared man, a very scared man who had no idea how to deal with his wife who was powerful than him in all respects. No one knows this fact but Mistress is the very reason that the business empire had prospered in this way. Master was nothing else but a tool for carrying out her orders. Master had bouts of violence after something happened and he took out all his pent up anger on her, our Mistress. But trust me Mistress, your mother was no simpering fool. She did everything what she did for the sake of your safety. And today it seems that what she did had a reason which will never come to understand,” said Frederick as Calysta just stared at him. There was nothing left to say. “Take me to the Dark Chambers Freddie. I want to see who this is and I want to know what has this person done in order to incur this wrath from the Gods for the sake of my mother,” said Calysta as she looked at the willow tree with a wistful gaze and smiled. She knew that her mom was always with her and that alone gave her the strength to pass through every single thing in her life without any fear at all. Frederick nodded at his current Mistress and opened the door to the chamber of the mausoleum. Calysta could see the lawyer sitting there absolutely scared out of his wits. His mouth was gagged along with his hands and feet. And her father’s corpse was kept in front of him. The smell of the crypt was undoubtedly something that could give you nightmares for the rest of the years to come. Once he could see that Calysta had arrived along with Frederick he started struggling even harder against the bonds and he was trying to make a ruckus. Calysta looked at the man and then said,” Freddie, we have all the time in the world. Let me deal with this imbecile first.” “But Mistress, don’t you think that meeting with her would be better first?” asked Frederick as Calysta made a notion of thinking and said,” No…he is already scared out of his wits. I shall talk with him first and then I shall go ahead and meet with this person.” Frederick was helpless to do anything else rather than nod at her words. Calysta went ahead and removed the gag from the mouth of that attorney, who coughed like anything and then finally spat a her but Calysta was expecting that so she carefully side-stepped that trajectory of the spittle which landed on the ground. “Tsk tsk it is really not up to the mark to spit at your employer, is it not? But then again my father did not count much for the lack of manners and behavior of the people he was in contact with as well but from now on that is not going to be the case. You are not going to be employed with me or anyone else any longer. You do understand that, don’t you?” asked Calysta as she raised her brows in the dim lighting of the crypt. “You f*****g b***h…what do you think you are going to be able to do to me? Huh? Your old man is dead and that is the reason that you little snake are now raising your head…how long do you think it is going to take me to crush your head…you f*****g puta..” said the lawyer as Calysta sighed out loudly and then looked at Frederick. “You see Frederick??? This is the price that he is paying now for the loyalty and the affection that my father has showered upon him since for probably the time when he picked you up from the streets and now he calls me a b***h, a snake without any hesitation just because he had thought that it would be almost too easy to do away with me when I come to this house, isn’t it? Guess what you f*****g cunt!!! That is not going to happen,” said Calysta in a voice which was lower the base chord of her violin strings. The lawyer snarled at her trying to hit her with his body but Calysta slammed her foot in his chest with such a force that he fell backwards and she spoke quietly after that. “You are never going to see the light of the day again and I am going to make sure that your family rots in hell and the roach infested slums as long as they are alive,” said Calysta as the lawyer screamed after her but she did not even care.
