CHAPTER
Well, we’re into the second week of summer, and I guess things are starting to look up. I’m staying with Dad and Candace for now. Which basically means I’ve got the place to myself while they’re at work.
Dad bought me a CharlieCard, so Xavier’s been over every single day this week, and the other good news is he’s getting his car fixed this weekend. See, I knew things would work themselves out in the end. They always do.
Candace has been pretty cool. She comes home about half an hour before Dad does, and the two of us cook dinner together. Or sometimes she drives me with her to choose some take-out. You have no idea how nice it is to be with people who eat real food for a change. No more canned food dumped into a microwave bowl and calling that dinner.
Last night we ate pad tai.
