CHAPTER Margot could only guess whether or not this conversation would be any easier to get through sober. She was starting to doubt it. After trying several times to fill Sandy in on the briefest details, she decided to back up and tell the story from the moment Candace walked into her home. “She said she thought Jack was cheating on her.” Margot didn’t go on to explain how at first the confession brought a sense of smug relief. Poetic justice. If only the entire conversation could have been about something as commonplace as infidelity. “She talked about Jack being on his computer all the time. Like real secret stuff.” The thought of what she was about to say next made Margot feel even sicker than the alcohol did. “Did he have a problem going to websites with objectionable material?
