Chapter 2The first class began at eight o’clock. Freshman luck—the only available section of a class you had to have, and at that unholy hour. Jerry slid into the desk he’d taken the first day several weeks before, while Riki took his customary seat behind him. They both clutched their papers. Jerry had barely finished his before they had to run to make the class. It was shorter than he’d planned, but would have to do. A small quiver of anxiety rippled through his gut. What if the prof noticed both papers were done on the same typewriter? His was old and had two blurred letters. The small “a” and “e” could barely be told apart. That kind of stood out.
