Chapter 7

-Axel P.O.V.-

I headed back to my room where my mate lay, but when I entered the bedroom, he was sitting up. I walk in and look at him as he just stares at me. Before I can ask him anything, he speaks before me.

“Was that him?” I just froze as I looked at him.

Me to Bryant: Should I tell him?

Bryant: Yes, we need to tell him.

Me: Okay. Just making sure we are on the same page.

Just as I am about to respond, he raises his voice at me.

“ANSWER ME AXEL. WAS THAT HIM?”

I stalked over to my mate as he just stared at me. I could feel the anger coming off of him in waves, but what is hitting me more is the fear. I know he is scared that he will be taken away or something will happen BUT I will never allow it.

“Yes, it was.” I answer my mate as I stand next to the bed.

That is all it took for him to break down. He brought his hands to his face as he let out a sob and I could fully feel his fear as he broke down. I didn’t waste any time as I climbed onto the bed and brought my mate into my lap. He straddled me and flung his arms around my neck. I wrapped my arms around his back as I shoved his head into my neck so he could breathe in my scent.

I rubbed up and down his back as he took in my scent. “I will protect you and this pack will protect you. I am your mate, and I will always protect you with everything in me.” I pulled him from my neck as I cupped his cheeks forcing him to look at me. “I am going to protect you. I promise you with everything in me. Do you trust me?” I ask him while I look up in his eyes.

“Yes. I trust you.” He tells me while staring right into my eyes.

I hug him close to my chest as I lay us down and I turn us, so we are laying on our sides. He cuddles into my chest as I keep my arms wrapped around his body. He takes comfort in me and I soon feel him falling asleep. I lay there for a bit before I decided to get up. I carefully make my way out of my mates’ arms and I place my pillow in his arms so he can still have my scent. I watch as he clutches the pillow within his arms, and it makes my heart skip a beat.

I quickly shake my head as I go over to my closet and I throw on a shirt as I leave my sweatpants on. I make my way out of the room and head to my office. On the way my wolf decides to give me a hard time.

Bryant: You are seriously leaving our mate to go work??

Me: I am leaving our mate so I can go and find out more about this piece of s**t who threatened our mate! I would think that you would agree with me on this. I sneer at him wondering why he is really giving me attitude right now.

Bryant: I am sorry. I do not mean to doubt your intentions as I am also thinking of our mate. I did not even consider what you are doing for him.

Me: Forgiven.

I close off the mind-link to my wolf as he settles in the back of my mind. I walk in my office and make my way over to my desk. I sit down as I open up my laptop while waiting for it to load/turn on, I take out a key that I keep hidden in my desk that opens up a certain file cabinet. I put in my password in my laptop very quickly as I get up from my desk to walk over to my file cabinets. I head down to the last one and put the key in. I open up the cabinet and smile darkly to myself.

I rub my hands together as I say, “Let the fun begin”.

-Forrest P.O.V.-

I wake up to find that I am alone in the bed clutching Axels’ pillow. I sigh to myself as I get up out of the bed and I make my way over to his closet as I find a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. The t-shirt absolutely swallows me, and I frown to myself because I am not some little man. I huff to myself before I make my way out of the bedroom. I stop once I see his sister sitting there on the couch reading something with her legs crossed. She senses my presence and looks at me.

She smiles at me. “Hey there.”

I smile back at her as I watch her stand up. “Hey.”

She chuckles at me because I say it kind of shyly, but then she looks at me seriously which makes me confused. “Come with me now, my brother needs you.”

She doesn’t wait for me to respond as she started to walk out of the suite, and I just followed her as I was worried for my mate. I followed her as she led me to his office, I believe. I could feel Blaze on edge, and I was so worried for my mate. I just wanted to see him, and I wanted to be in his arms. She stopped in front of his office and I could hear yelling within the office and then I got hit with it. I got hit with so much anger and fear…I soon realized that it was my mates’ feeling. I didn’t hear what Opal had said as I busted through the doors to his office.

“WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS FOR THAT PIECE OF S**T…”

Next thing I know I am letting out the biggest growl I have EVER let out. I watch as Axel’s father spins around and looks at me with so much hate in his eyes. I could feel as Blaze wants to be let loose because of this man who keeps disrespecting me. Before I could respond, Axel comes over to me and stands in front of me. His back is to me as he faces his father. At this moment, Blaze calms down because I could feel Axel’s wolf as he wanted to come to the front.

“Get. Out. I will slit your throat where you stand and laugh as you bleed out on the floor. As of right now, you are no longer my father.” I could feel/hear the venom in his voice as he spoke to his father.

I wrapped my hands around his arms, and I could feel him lean into my touch. Before his father could say anything, Opal comes busting into the office. She walks right up to her father and slaps him in the face. He stumbles backwards from the slap as he looks at his daughter in shock. She then grabs her fathers’ arm as she drags him out of the office. I just watch in shock as she literally drags him out. Once he is gone, Axels turns around and faces me.

“Baby..” He whispers as he cups my cheeks. I smile brightly at him as I wrap my hands around his wrists. I close my eyes as he kisses my forehead.
