“Where is Jade?”
“I’m sorry?”
Charlotte looked confused by my question.
“Where is Jade?” I repeated.
“I have no idea! I told you the last time we spoke…uh…Jade hasn’t been back in a while. She hasn’t been home since before the last summer holidays.” Charlotte answered not as confidently as I would have liked her to.
“Really?” I asked her.
“There has to be more to it than that. Right? When was the last time you spoke to her?” I asked leaning back against the couch and crossing one leg over the other.
I studied my stepmother.
“Oh… its been a while now. I’m worried about her myself. I hope she reaches out soon.”
