Date with Mr. Benson and Others
“Excuse me for a moment.” I said to Conrad. “It’s an important call.”
He nodded in return and I left the table quickly.
I ignored the look I got from Red and kept walking until I was outside the restaurant.
“Jade?” I said into the phone again.
“Hey Gracie.”
I hadn’t heard from my friend in so long that tears filled my eyes.
“How are you?” I asked with a shaky voice.
“I’m perfectly fine. Please don’t cry. I know it’s been a while and I haven’t checked in. in a while but I’m okay.”
“Where are you?” I asked clearing my throat.
“Where I always was.” Was her response.

“Are you on your own?” I asked, terrified that maybe she had been kidnapped.
