Chapter 6
For the first time in a long time, Jalen woke up with a smile on his face. It was going to be a long day; it always was. But today, he would get to hear the baby’s heartbeat; he would get to see his baby, their baby. He knew it was all just a procedure, and there was probably nothing to see yet, but he was excited anyway. He was going to be a father. He’d never stopped to think what kind of father he wanted to be, but now he knew he wanted to be involved in every aspect. There was nothing he wouldn’t do.
He wanted to call Jassie to ask her how she was feeling this morning but hesitated on the off chance that she hadn’t slept well and didn’t want him waking her up so early. He’d ask her at the office, he thought. But he felt impatient. He wanted to know everything right now.
