Chapter 3
It was the fourth time Jassie had gotten up this morning to relieve her stomach of its contents. She turned on the sink each time, trying to mask the sound of her retching. She and Jalen were the only ones in the office today. Even the workers were not on site because their work was postponed until the heavy rains subsided. It had rained all night, making it nearly impossible to even drive up to the site. Jassie had parked on the street and walked into the trailer just before another downpour began.
