HAZEL'S POV
I was not raised by my parents therefore caring and family love is not in my dictionary of words.
I lived with my grandmother in California for as long as I can remember. We used to live in Calabasas but things changed. Mama did not come home every night. When she did, she stayed up to late arguing with my dad about some lady called Anna.
Mama kept saying that dad had an affair and she is also sleeping around to prevent herself from being run over by a car.
That pissed dad off, to the extent that he become violent with her even as I watched.
I loved my mother then but the fact that I could not save her from my dad's torture made me sad and helpless.
Mama investigated on the matter and it turned out that indeed dad was cheating with Anna Colloway.
