The shrill scream beside me dragged me out of my morose thoughts, and I twisted my body in the air to see Fiore screaming and hurtling down alongside me. Looking at the inky darkness below and counting the seconds we've been airborne, it seemed like an awfully long fall.
With all my might and control, I reached out and dragged Fiore to me, enclosing my arms around her body. I tightened my hold on her and redirected our position so our feet were pointing downward.
