The first sensation to register on me was the soft sheet beneath my body. The second was the scent. Burnt charcoal and ash filled my nose, and I opened my eyes to see an unfamiliar ceiling in an unfamiliar room. The scent was so strong that I gagged. I tried moving my arms and legs to stand up, but I found that they were tightly bound. Panic set in, and I struggled to free myself, making the bed shake.
