10 | Morning

1009 Words
The sun hasn’t risen yet but here I am, already wide awake and preparing for our breakfast. I had to make sure that everything will be ready right before Hunter woke up. I don’t have him to go around and tell me what to do. I can’t stand him—his voice, his face, his presence. Just plainly looking at him makes my blood boil. After making him breakfast, I took the chance to take a bath so I can also start preparing for the day. All those who passed the initial test will undergo another test to determine the class they will take. I don’t know how they’ll do that, but I don’t really care. I will do whatever they want me to just so I could stay here. And if ever I fail, then I will still insist on staying and being Hunter’s slave 24/7. If I have to endure seeing his face almost every single time, then I would rather than going back to our pack. After taking a bath, I sprinted to my room to get dressed. I made sure to be quick so that when Hunter woke up, I can leave and stroll around the camp while waiting for the test to begin. “Maya!” Hunter’s lazy, morning voice echoed all over the place. “Breakfast.” I rolled my eyes in annoyance because I literally served his breakfast on the table. I made sure he sees it as soon as he woke up. I grunted before storming out of my room. And I got more annoyed when I saw him already eating. “I’m done with the chores. I’ll take my leave now,” I told him before going out without letting him respond. I don’t want to hear anything from him because that would just ruin my day. As I was walking around, I remembered what happened last night. I still couldn’t figure out who’s that person watching me and what’s with that searing sensation I felt back then. Those were the mysteries I wanted to solve, but I don’t really have the time since I am occupied with what type of test they will give us later. I was about to head to the open field when I saw the girl who’s always with the prince, sitting at one of the benches with a long face. Her auburn hair is tied in a messy bun and she’s still in her pajamas. I don’t know what has gotten into me that I decided to approach her. “Hey…” I called her attention. I gave her a smile as soon as she looked in my direction. “Did something happen?” She looked at me and shook her head then let out a deep sigh. “I’m just stressed out,” she mumbled, pouting. “About what?” She looked away and puffed some air. “About the prince. He won’t just listen to me. He does whatever he wants then if he messes up, it’s me who cleans up his mess,” she ranted, shaking her head. “Can’t he—“ She immediately covered her mouth with both of her hands before looking at me. “Oh, God, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to rant.” I let out a giggle before shaking my head. “It’s fine. Did it make you feel better?” “Somehow?” I smiled at her. “Then that’s good,” I said, looking around and seeing some who are already heading to the open field. “Why aren’t you getting ready for the test later?” “Oh, you mean the alpha test?” she replied. “There’s no need for me to do that.” “Why?” She looked at me with a slightly creased forehead. “U-Uh, because I know I will be in the warrior class?” she hesitantly replied. “Like, that’s what I came for—to be a warrior.” “I see…” I said, slowly nodding my head. “Okay.” “How about you? Don’t tell me you’ll gonna take the test?” she guessed, flashing a small smile. I looked at her and somehow realized something. I was sent here to be Hunter’s little maid and while I do that, I will also enroll in the warrior class. But there’s also this little hope in me that pushes me to take the test. I mean, I don’t know my origins. I don’t have a single memory of my past. I don’t remember even the names of my parents or anyone from my former pack. I am not assuming I am of an alpha blood, because there’s no way that would happen. After all, I would have shifted to my wolf already if that’s the case. I just really want to find a clue about my identity. And taking the alpha test will definitely give me an idea of who I truly am. “I think I’ll take the test,” I replied to her and smiled. “I was told that everyone can take the test. And since I am already here, might as well try everything this camp offers, right?” She looked at me for a few seconds before she nodded her head. “You got a point. But I am too exhausted to do the test today. I guess I will just sleep in the dorm and recover my strength.” “Oh, if that’s what you wanna do, then go,” I responded since I don’t think I am in a position to tell her what to do. And we are not that close either to meddle with each other’s decisions. So after that talk, I excused myself since I still have to go to the open field and gather with everyone to take the test. I already know the outcome of the test, but I still wanna do it since I strongly believe that it would give me even the tiniest fragment to remember my past.
