Jabari and the others ran all that day and all the next, trying to reach the Worker village before Isika did. Bursts of frustration gave Jabari speed as he thought about Isika going back to her old home like she didn't know any better, and he tore ahead of the group, taking the lead to set the pace. Ivy was right behind him, and Gavi ran at the back of the group, keeping an eye on everyone. Every once in a while, Gavi yelped, "Yab, hold up!" and Jabari knew someone was falling behind and he needed to slow his pace.
