Jayson decided to go to his new house, but first he'd have to go to the housing company for his keys.
Jayson walked into the housing company, with a sense of excitement building in his chest. He was finally going to get the keys to his new house, courtesy of the system.
As he approached the reception desk, he heard a familiar voice behind him.
"Well, well, well. Look what we have here. If it isn't Jayson, the college poor boy."
Jayson turned to see his former classmate, Rachel, standing behind him with a smug expression.
"Rachel," Jayson said, his voice neutral. "What are you doing here?"
Rachel raised an eyebrow. "I work here, of course. And I have to say, I'm surprised to see you. I didn't think you could afford a house."
Jayson smiled wryly. "I've done all right for myself."
Rachel snorted. "I doubt that. There's no way someone like you could afford a house in this neighborhood. You're probably here to apply for a janitorial position or something."
Jayson's eyes narrowed. "Actually, I'm here to pick up the keys to my new house."
Rachel's expression faltered, and she took a step back. "Spare me that trash! There's no way you could afford a house here, even in your dreams."
Jayson shrugged. "I need to take my keys,I'm not in for your little talks."
Rachel's face turned red with anger. "You're probably just trying to scam us or lying. Don't get your hopes up boy, you can never get a house in this neighborhood. Just take a look at your outfit, you look like a person who just got out of the mental hospital."
Jayson sighed, tired of Rachel's attitude. "Look, Rachel, I don't have time for this. Can I just get my keys, please?"
Rachel crossed her arms, her expression stubborn. "No, I don't think so. You're not getting anything until I verify this and I don't think I'll waste my time verifying anything for you."
Jayson's eyes flashed with anger, but he kept his cool. He knew he had the upper hand. "Fine, go ahead. But I'm warning you, Rachel, you're going to look very foolish when you find out the truth."
Rachel's eyes sparkled with malice as she continued to taunt Jayson. "Oh, I remember now, Jayson. You're the same guy who asked me out in college and got rejected. You were so pathetic, begging for my attention like a dog."
Jayson's face remained calm, but his eyes narrowed slightly. "That was a long time ago, Rachel. I'm over it."
Rachel laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "I'm sure you are. But let's be real, Jayson. You're still the same loser you were back then. You're only here because you're trying to scam us out of a house."
Jayson's smile never wavered. "I'm not here to rehash the past, Rachel. I'm here for the house. Can I please just get the keys?"
Rachel sneered at him. "You think you deserve a house like this? You're not even worthy of cleaning the floors. You're a poor, pathetic excuse for a human being."
Jayson's eyes flashed with anger, but he kept his cool. "Rachel, that's enough. I'm warning you."
But Rachel wouldn't stop. She kept on insulting him, humiliating him, and degrading him. Jayson's face remained calm, but his eyes burned with intensity.
“You talk too much for a common receptionist.” Jayson fired back.
Rachel's face twisted in anger as she pulled out her phone and dialed a number. "Security, I need you to remove this...person from the premises immediately."
Two burly bodyguards appeared, their eyes fixed menacingly on Jayson. "Sir, you need to leave now," one of them growled.
But before they could move, the manager stepped forward, her eyes blazing with anger. "Rachel, what is wrong with you? Why are you being so rude to a customer?"
Rachel's smile faltered, and she took a step back. "I...I was just trying to protect the company's interests."
The manager's expression turned incredulous. "By insulting and humiliating a customer? I don't think so."
She turned to Jayson, her expression softening. "I apologize for Rachel's behavior, Mr. Jayson. Please, accept my sincerest apologies."
Jayson smiled graciously. "Thank you, but it's not necessary. I'm just glad to have my keys."
“I'll sort it out, please sit here.” She gestured to a chair.
The manager turned back to Rachel, her expression stern. "Rachel, I need to see you in my office. Now."
Rachel's face paled as she followed the manager out of the room, the bodyguards trailing behind them.
As the door closed, Jayson let out a sigh of relief. He couldn't believe the drama he had just witnessed.
As Jayson waited in the lobby, the manager emerged from her office, a look of contrition on her face.
"Mr. Jayson, I want to apologize again for Rachel's behavior," she said, her voice sincere. "She was completely out of line, and I'm so sorry you had to experience that."
“Here are your keys.” She added as she gave Jayson the keys.
Jayson smiled graciously. "It's okay, really. I'm just glad to have my keys."
The manager nodded. "I'm glad too. And to make up for it, I'd like to personally show you to your new house."
Jayson's eyes widened in surprise. "That's not necessary, but thank you."
The manager smiled. "No, I insist. It's the least I can do after what you've been through."
The manager called Rachel. “Apologize to him now!” She demanded.
Rachel's face fell, as she uttered out the apology. “I'm sorry sir.”
Jayson nodded and he walked out of the office with the manager. Jayson couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement, he was finally going to see his new house.
The manager led him to a sleek black car, and they drove through the winding streets of the upscale neighborhood. Jayson's eyes grew wider as they approached the house. It was even more beautiful than he had imagined.
The manager left and Jayson went into the apartment.
He saw the system screen display with a notice.
