Chapter 3

1029 Words
As Jayson lay there, broken and battered, he heard a mechanical voice in his head. "Host critically injured. Death imminent. Do you want to live? Choose yes to be revived, or choose no to die." Jayson's thoughts were on a roller coaster, but he knew he didn't want to die. He had too much unfinished business, too many questions left unanswered. "Yes..." he whispered, his voice barely audible. The mechanical voice responded, "Revival sequence initiated. Please wait..." Jayson's vision began to blur and distort, and he felt a strange sensation wash over him. It was as if his body was being taken apart and put back together again, cell by cell. Jayson heard a ding! {Binding the super munificent system…..} {10%...} {30%…} {50%...} {70%...} {100%...} {Binding complete.} {System cannot be transferred, if the host dies the system will be gone.} Then, a screen that only Jayson could see appeared in front of his eyes. PROFILE: {Host: JAYSON HAMILTON} {Balance: $ 200,000,000,000. Can be used anytime by host} {Body: 20 Weak} {Mind: 50 Normal} {Skills: Zero, but can be added freely, host needs to use up munificent points.} {Munificent points: Zero.} {Race: Human.} Jayson's eyes fluttered open, and he was met with the harsh glare of hospital lights. He groggily sat up, looking around in confusion. How did he get here? As he looked down at his body, he noticed something strange. There were no scars, no bruises, no signs of the brutal accident that had nearly claimed his life. He threw off the covers and swung his legs over the side of the bed, his mind racing. What had happened? Is he really alive? A nurse with a warm smile approached him. "Jayson," she said. "You've been through a lot. But you're safe now." Jayson's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?" he demanded. "What happened to me?" The nurse hesitated, glancing around the room nervously. "You were in an accident," she said. "A bad one. But… miraculously you were revived. We are still in shock how all your bruises got cleared within the blink of an eye." Jayson's mind reeled. Suddenly, the mechanical voice from earlier echoed in his mind. "Host critically injured. Death imminent. Do you want to live? Choose yes to be revived, or choose no to die." It all came flooding back. The accident, the voice, the choice. Jayson's eyes locked onto the nurse. "How did I get here, who brought me here?” The nurse took a step back, her eyes wide with fear. "You were brought here after the accident. You've been in a coma for days." Jayson's gaze narrowed. He knew what he had experienced. And he knew that something strange and sinister was at play. He wondered if the mechanical voice he heard was real, or if he had been hallucinating. He decided to try it out, to see if the profile he had seen earlier was truly his. Jayson decided to leave the hospital, he had no more bruises and he was okay about it. He was so famished, he had not eaten anything since the night that he had prepared a surprise party for his ex wife, Erica. Jayson went into a restaurant to eat, he ordered his food and when it was time to pay after eating, he inserted his card. Jayson had doubts, he thought the card would decline but to his surprise, it went through and he received a debit alert with a huge balance still remaining in his account. Jayson gasped. “It's real!” He exclaimed. Jayson heard the mechanical voice in his head again. {Host money is in all host bank accounts, host can use any amount but host have to pay for anything without negotiation.} {Host can either pay through fingerprint, pupils or pin.} Jayson's eyes widened as the system's message flashed before him. {Reward granted. Film company acquisition complete. SILVER SCREEN STUDIOS now owned by host.} He stumbled backward, his mind reeling. What was happening? How was this possible? He remembered Silver Screen studios to be one of the biggest film companies in the city. Jayson's hands trembled as he pulled out his phone and opened his banking app. And there it was a staggering amount of money, more than he had ever seen in his life. He had to test it. He had to know if it was real. Jayson made his way to the nearest ATM, his heart racing with anticipation. He inserted his card, entered his PIN, and requested a withdrawal. The machine whirred to life, and Jayson held his breath. And then, in a flurry of motion, cash began to dispense. Jayson's eyes went wide as he stared at the stacks of bills pouring out of the machine. It was real. It was actually real. Jayson stumbled backward, his mind blank. He had gone from being on the brink of death to becoming a wealthy film studio owner. It was too much to take in. As he walked away from the ATM, cash in hand, Jayson felt a sense of excitement and trepidation. Jayson decided to go to Silver Screen Studios. He took a cab and went there. As he approached the reception desk, the receptionist looked up at him with a scowl. "Can I help you?" she growled. "I'm here to see the manager," Jayson replied, his smile faltering. The receptionist snorted. "You're probably just another beggar looking for a handout. Well, let me tell you something, pal. We don't do charity here." Jayson's face reddened as the receptionist continued to berate him. "You're probably just a loser who can't even afford a decent suit. What could you possibly want with our company?" Just as the receptionist was about to chase Jayson away, a calm voice intervened. "That's enough, Stella." The manager's eyes widened in surprise, and then a broad smile spread across his face. "Welcome, Jayson! We've been expecting you." He shook Jayson's hand warmly, his grip firm. "I'm Manager Lee. We're glad to have you on board." Jayson's eyes narrowed, still wary from the receptionist's attack. "Expecting me? How did you know?" Manager Lee chuckled. "We've been preparing for your arrival as the new owner."
