The intruder is in a black suit and his face simply means business. The no nonsense type.
He is strongly built so I assume he is the club's bouncer or something.
I try to stare him down but his gait is intimidating.
"These are the ladies' washrooms." I say in the politest voice I can master.
"I know."
"Then f**k off!" Pat says irritably.
He nods at me. "Come with me."
"What?"
"Now!" It's more if an order than a request.
Patricia jumps between us.
"Are you deaf? I told you to leave!"
He totally ignores her.
"I said you're coming with me." He's addressing me.
"Where to?"
He thinks for a moment.
"Someone wants to see you."
"Who exactly?"
"Someone you don't want to mess with."
He glances at his watch then looks at me impatiently.
Pat frowns at me. "You know him?"
"Hell no."
"Then let's get out of here."
She leads the way and the muscled stranger excuses her. When I get to him though, he grabs my wrist and pushes me out of the room.
Pat gasps when I appear with the guy's hand clutching my wrist tightly; almost painfully.
She lungs at him but four more suit-clad bouncer types block her way. she's held back from me and if I know my best friend at all, then she's giving them a piece of her mind.
Surprisingly, the bouncers at the club's entrance pave way for us. I know the security cameras are being monitored too but no one bothers to raise an alarm.
I'm trusting my gut somehow and I avoid being too dramatic. I just walk silently..trying hard to ignore my thudding heart.
I have to remind myself over and over again that not everyone is a r****t. Not everyone is Ken.
At the parking lot, my kidnapper approaches three black Audi's and even in the poor lights, I can tell they are heavily tinted.
This is it now; I'm getting kidnapped.
I take a deep breath, then let out a bloodcurdling scream when we are just a few steps away from the vehicles.
My assailant holds a hand over my mouth and my struggles are in vain.
Immediately, the back left door of the middle car opens and a man steps out. I don't bother looking at him as he walks to us.
"Let her go Alec." His voice is clipped and controlled and the guy releases me immediately.
He walks to me then until he is a mere foot away. It's kind of dark but he looks vaguely familiar. He is tall and I know he is well built considering the way he fits in that pristine shirt.
"Get in the car." He says less harshly than the other time he addressed Alec.
I look around. There's no escape. It's obvious that I can't outrun these two guys...
"I'm not going to hurt you. I just want to talk to you." He says again, taking another step towards me and I move back very deliberately.
"About what?"
"Just get in the car and you'll be updated."
Okay, his voice is kind of mean but I trust him somehow. I don't think he's set to hurt me.
"Come." He holds out his hand and I take it, hoping against hope that I'm going to emerge out of the whole thing alive.
Someone is waiting to open the back door when we get to the car. I slide in and the door is quickly closed behind me.
He walks around then climbs in from the other side. I move as far from him as I can until I'm pressed against the door.
"I don't bite, you know?" He says silently.
He sounds mildly amused.
"No I don't know. Who the hell are you?"
"You haven't figured out yet?"
"If I did, I wouldn't have asked."
He reaches for the roof of the car with a long hand and flicks a switch. The car is flooded in subtle light.
I turn to look at him once my eyes adjust to the light. He's gazing at me, and for a moment I can't place where I saw him.
My eyes move involuntarily all over his face. I take in the dark hooded eyes and the prominent jaw. High cheekbones and the full sensual lips. His chin is set in an arrogant pose and he oozes of charm... And power.
Something passes between us. I feel... Safe..protected..
He looks so strong and his well built muscles are outlined by the white shirt he is wearing. The tie is loosened and the top buttons are undone.
He can protect me from anything. I feel safe with him. No one would ever r**e me when he is around.
I know that I'm obsessed with the r**e thing but it looks like I'm never going to move on from that. What with the nightmares and phobia for darkness?
"Are you done staring?" His voice brings me back to earth and bite my lip in embarrassment. What the hell is wrong with me?
"You look somehow familiar." I say eventually and he lifts a dark eyebrow.
"Do I now?"
"Yeah somehow...." Then I recognize him in a flash.
Oh my God!
"I remember where I saw you now."
"Yeah?"
"I saw your picture in a business magazine this morning. My friend showed me.."
Christ, why am I even here? Why does he want to talk to me? How the hell does he even know me if at all he does?
He c***s his head to one side.
"Your friend knows me?"
"Not really. I guess she'd love to though."
Poor Pat. Her heart would be in stitches.
"I bet." Is all he says.
The driver's door is opened and one of the suit-clad guys takes the wheel. At the simple flick of a button, a tinted screen goes up between us and the driver and I'm trapped at the back with the devious stranger.
My heart is beating a bit too fast. I know it's likely because I'm scared but I also know for a fact that it's partly because of him.
He is alluring, well built and he's gazing at me with an unreadable expression.
If I recall what Pat said this morning correctly, he is a f*****g billionaire.
"So why am I here?" I eventually gather enough courage to talk.
He frowns. "I told you I wanted to talk to you."
"About what?"
"You really don't know me, do you?"
"I already told you that I saw your photo on the cover page of an international magazine earlier today."
"Apart from that?" He asks again with that raised brow.
I narrow my eyes at him.
"Have we met before?"
He shrugs. "You tell me."
I bite my lip to keep from cursing him. I don't want my pretty ass s*****d by those iron faced bouncers of his. He is being unnecessarily stubborn.
I shake my head. "I don't think we've met before."
He gives me a thoughtful look. "I see."
I rub my wrist where the bodyguard's grip made it a bit raw and I wince when pain slices through me.
The billionaire ass guy holds out his hand, his eyes widening in alarm.
"Let me see that."
"It's nothing." I reply quickly.
"Let. Me. See."
Jeez, Mr bossy.
I give him my hand and his brow creases as he surveys the damage.
"What happened to you?" His eyes hold mine and I gulp before replying.
"That guy.. Your bouncer.."
"Bodyguard." He says before he pulls his cell out of his pocket.
He punches a number on speed dial and his jaw is twitching angrily. He's still holding my hand, his eyes fixed on the bruise.
"Alec, can you explain why Mia has a bruise on her wrist?"
I can't hear the other side of the conversation but I can tell that he's angry as hell. He's somehow overreacting but then the Alec guy was not too subtle while manhandling me.
Maybe he deserves it.
Wait a minute...did he call me Mia? What the f*****g hell? He knows my godamned name!
Now I'm worried; really worried and alarmed.
"When I ask you to bring her to me, you bring her to me. No bruises, no nothing. You copy that?" He barks into the phone.
After a short silence.... "You better."
Then he hangs up and turns to address me.
"You'll need some ice cubes to tone down the swelling and the pain."
"I'll be fine."
"I don't like people arguing with me." He says pointedly.
I keep quiet and look outside through the dark window. We are in the suburbs, driving through a gated community.
This area is strictly for the who is who in the country.
"Where are you taking me?" I ask in alarm.
He gives me a bored look. "I already told you I want to talk to you. I hate to repeat myself."
Jeez, I get it. He doesn't have to address me like he is talking to a toddler.
Surprisingly,I'm not scared. I'm angry at him for literally k********g me but other than that, I'm not afraid of him. I feel secure if anything.
He said that he won't hurt me and I somehow believe him.
The car comes to a halt and someone is already opening my door. I step out into the cool night and I gaze at the mansion before me.
You got to be kidding me.
"Come." He says impatiently and I follow him to the porch, which opens to the living room.
I'm aware that my mouth is almost dropping open at the extravagant surrounding but he doesn't stand long enough to let me admire anything.
He places his hand on the small of my back and urges me up the stairs.
At the landing on the first floor, we turn left then he pushes the door on the first room open and we walk inside.
"Are you hungry?"
I shake my head.
"I'll have someone bring you ice cubes for that bruise. I'll see you tomorrow." He says before he turns to walk away.
"Wait." He turns to look at me. "I want to go to my place."
"You'll go tomorrow."
"My friends will be worried."
"Call them."
"And tell them what?"
He shrugs. "You figure it out."
"What's your name?"
He looks at me for a second.
"No names."
That line sounds familiar.
"You already know mine."
He lifts an eyebrow.
"Do I?"
"Yeah."
"I did my research. Now you go and do yours."
With that, he leaves the room, closing the door behind him.
